Yep, would not have expected his first NHL goal to be a deflection, but here we are.

I thought he was the best player on the ice tonight.

His defensive game has come a long way. His reads, his gaps and his stick were great tonight

Zayne isn't a your normal defenseman.

This clinched it...a Parekh jersey must be bought next year to replace my Tkachuk.

As a minor hockey coach I have similar stories with players and Kadri

There is more to it than ages, cap hits, points, and even wins sometimes

I think having a true franchise center would obviously be great. But rarely do even championship teams have star players at goalie, defence, and center. Normally at least one of those positions is compromised. For example, the Avalanche have MacKinnon and Makar but just stumbled along in net.

What the Flames do need is more scoring power. I think Parekh himself will make a big difference. I would say the emergence of the offence orientated defencemen, as a position, makes teams less dependent on centers overall.

But the flames definitely need a couple more game breaking forwards. They'll likely need to get that either through luck, picking outside the top 10, or a great Ufa signing or trade.

I honestly don't see this team finishing bottom five unless they move Kadri and Weegar or they get a new coaching system that's less effective.

I was thinking the same. Asking myself how was Parekh not the best player on the ice? Sure it was a meaningless game and the intensity was dialed down but its still impressive to think about. He effortlessly alleviates pressure in the D zone with his feet. It was fun to watch all night.

I'm in the exact same boat, I've had my Tkachuk for ages and am just waiting for Zayne to get a number!

Rare. TB had star centres (2!) a star D and a star G. Dallas arguably does. Funny to say but Vancouver should have been able to say this too but they’ve blown it.

Actually Vladar was probably the best player on the ice.

He moves around the ice like a hummingbird. Can change directions easily.

The Kings had that formula - Quick, Doughty, Kopitar.

Penguins - Fleury, Letang, Crosby/Malkin.

I just got a big 89 tattoo on my back and tattooed Zaynes face in my face to replace my face.

Over shadowed, but I thought Brzustewicz was really good too and for similar reasons.

That give and go he made off the face off is something we just don't see that often.

Parekh made reads so quickly, and he slings the puck like Tanguay ... tough to teach. Most hockey players are so deliberate with their direction and delivery, but Tanguay (and Parekh) sling it.

Good for deception and accurate as hell.

Suniev looked a little over his skis at time but has a good frame and some puck skills.

I thought Morton looked good as a fourth liner.

I think Conroy needs to look at Morton as the 4th line center next season.

Does Stromgren deserve a crack next year? He could be a good 4th liner to start next season too. I'd like to see both with Lomberg.

If this is the case, the 4th line is full. Klapka deserves top 9 minutes.

Hunter B could crack the roster next year too. Bean and Pachal can stick around, but if Hunter makes it, they can sit.

Still need to move a forward. I would hesitate to move Sharangovich. It has to be Coleman IMO.

I think we need to trade both for picks, I would target 2026 or 2027 picks as right now we are creating a log jam of players who deserve to be on the team.

Honzek might make it again next year. Kuznetsov also could make it over Hunter B. It's a nice problem Conroy has but he has tough desicions to make and the least risky is moving the 30+ guys out.

It's not an if but when I get a Parekh jersey. Does anyone know if #89 is here to stay?

He's got star potential you can tell just from watching one game.

He's going to be a bit of work in progress defensively and in the first period there were a few plays where he wasn't moving backward while the Kings turned the puck back up ice. But for a team that struggles to score -he's going to be godsend.

I'm watching the second and third periods now after missing them last night and while Parekh does seem to have some strength deficiencies, I think his game sense and anticipation are going to make him very effective defensively. He is disrupting a fair amount of plays with a great stick.

Definite Karlsson vibes for me.
