This is a really sad stat in relation to our lack of playoff success.

Cursed to mediocrity forever.

Now in our next Iggy/Kipper phase except no Iggy. Maybe Parekh can be superstar enough from the back end I guess.

When we have seasons with great teams on paper the effort isn't there, when we're meant to be out we play our hearts out. When we needed a goalie we didn't have one, now we have a goalie that will prevent us from really getting everything else barring some late round miracle picks like Gaudreau.

Cycle of a Flames fan.

Flames also finished this season with more points than the Devils!

As mentioned in another thread a couple days ago, and remains the same after tonight, only 7 teams with less regulation losses then the Flames, all of those 7 are the top 7 in the league.

Not fair. Just not fair. Flames deserved playoffs this year.

You can’t blame God(s) for missing the playoffs when you have 14 OTLs.

Come the #### on.

Yup, it was the OT record that ultimately did them in

Besides, worshipping devils in PGTs is just asking for the gods to do you dirty.

It's my personal pet theory that Satan heard all your prayers, and the puck was possessed. That's the simplest way to explain all the fluky non-goals at critical times. The consistent element in deal-with-the-devil stories is that you may get what you bargained for, but you never get what you actually wanted… and you lose your soul anyway.

Luckily, we didn't lose anything more valuable than a playoff spot. Now get yourselves to church (or the Hockey Hall of Fame) and do some sucking up for next year!

This was a season where the Flames didn't have many breaks go their way. Even then the team didn't let all that drag them down. They faced adversity well and defied the oddsmakers with a brilliant run to end the season. You have to be proud of how they handled things.

Team had a -21 goal differential. They don't belong in the playoffs.

This mindset needs to die.

There is a vast difference between finishing middle of the pack as a capped out team with a bunch of old players on bad contracts, and finishing middle of the pack with the smallest payroll in the league.

Yes. This. Emphatically.

They're –17 at the moment. Minnesota is in the playoffs with a –11. Only seven teams in the West have positive goal differentials, so somebody was bound to get in with a negative number.

At least wait until after the draft lottery to curse the HGs.

Those same hockey gods who just last year gave us a top-2 RHD at #9.

If the 10th place team from the 60s didn't set a franchise record win streak of 12 games the Flames would have coasted in

call it what you want it was a bad beat, they played well enough in almost any other year...especially if they win the next game. 96 points has never missed in the Wester conference from what I am told.

I get that. I'm just saying they didn't get screwed out of being there. They're just not a great team.

Watching the last couple minutes of the ANA-MIN game was a real torture. Gudas with a botched clear, a couple opportunities with an EN where the Ducks did not shoot, a couple turnovers by Anaheim. 21 seconds. **** me.

A Flames fan cannot but help think back to some blown 3rd period leads of our own in the past few months (eg SEA, EDM).

And of course the antediluvian goal line technology of the NHL; at least one of those pucks had to be in.

In an 82-game season, the Flames missed the playoffs by seconds and inches. FML.
