Absolutely not. You can still bottom out with Wolf. Just look at what is happening right now.

This season is this season. Whatever happens happens.
What I am ready for is to see this team bottom out next year and the year after. Two consecutive 'generational' (hate that overused term - let's call them franchise-changing players) available consecutively. Knock-out a couple of pegs and let this house fall.
One thing that I noticed is that you have to be a fan of this team to want to watch them play. I know I don't watch an Islanders game! Love their effort, but outside of that, this is one very boring team to watch play. Love their effort, but only a die-hard fan like most of us here appreciate it. Otherwise, it is a very difficult team to watch.
Let's see how this season finishes off. I don't like their chances with 3 other teams closing in on one spot, but let's see. I think at this point it is more likely - and definitely more beneficial long term - to just fall down the standings towards 10th than finish in a wildcard spot.

After the last stretch of hockey, what do the Flames have to lose giving some prospects and look.

You never, ever, ever trade away an elite goaltender.
We've planning well for the build. We have the goalie already and he's just entering his prime. Goalies often take the longest to develop, and I think Wolf has yet another level.
We have a glut of exceptional defense prospects, many already playing in the AHL, and they take the second longest to develop. They'll be here soon.
Then you have forwards, and they peak the soonest. We have a few interesting prospects, but we really are going to reap some talent in the next draft or two.
Then all the players you drafted reach their peak at the same time, and you become an elite team for about 5-10 years depending on management and coaching.
But you don't give up the elite goalie. That's probably the hardest piece to find. See: the Flames in the Monahan/Gaudreau era.

I agree with you. Lots of goaltending and D. Almost no forwards.

What am I missing? Even if we fall down the standings, aren't we just giving Montreal a better pick? There's no way we can suck all the way to the 10th worst team.

Our last draft was great. Gridin, Basha, Misa, Battaglia, and even Hoskin. There's at least 2 top 6 forwards in there, maybe 3 or more.
But those guys are going to be wingers in the NHL. I'm still looking for our top 2 centers.
Perhaps Frost becomes a #2 center, but we still need that elite top line center prospect in the system. Then we're laughing.
Until then...wandering the desert for 40 years.

We’re only 2 points up on the bruins for 10th worst but we have 3 games in hand. Unlikely but still a very real possibility, especially with the worst goal scoring team in the league.

Turned the game off after the Leafs got the 6th goal. Someone else scored? Cool I guess

Heck no. You know how hard it is to find an elite goalie? Wolf, our 1st round picks and Parehk should be the only untouchables in the organization

5 goals more than me. I knew what was coming after the first one and preferred to not witness it.

We're two points ahead of the current 10th worst team, the Bruins, with three games in hand. The road trip is looking grim. 12-15 games is a long stretch where the teams ranked 8th-16th worst can shuffle out a lot of different ways.

I don't even know what that looks like with this team.
They're anywhere between awful (wolf great!) and ok enough to squeeze points (thanks to wolf!).
When have they curb stomped a team, honestly.

Yes but we’re also only up 3 on the Isles with even games played, so if we want to reach the bottom 10, it’s not really the Bruins but them we need to keep eyes on.

Hey tips. Maybe don't death stare fans unless you are up by 3 goals....
Rasmus is such a joke. Like can we even get a 2nd rounder for him now?

The Flames will beat NYR tomorrow and look solid. Then we will all believe again. Then they will continue this cycle to finish 9th.

I believe the high danger chances were 10-1 in the first. The Flames were absolutely terrible.
