If this team was even .500 in 3 on 3 we would have a decent cushion on the wildcard at the moment. Frustrating stuff.
If the Flames and Oilers both had .500 OT records, they'd be battling each other for 2nd in the division.

3 on 3 is garbage, it's not real hockey. It's given the Oilers 9 wins... 9!!!!

I thought that was a great effort by the team. They even had the balance of chances in OT.

A good overall road trip where we got to experience the full spectrum of the feels.

I think that road trip will definitely harden the team for the stretch run

They are 3 points back of LA now...they would be in a divisional spot

Good game from a gassed team. You could see the struggle in the third. Hoped for a W, got a point. Can't complain on that trip at all.

Tough to lose in OT after having all that possession time. Flames just have trouble converting possession into goals.

Overall decent game and road trip. Vladar has really redeemed himself.

Uhh… Because it’s against a top team in the league

Why does Backlund’s goal show unassisted on the box score?

Game wise:
Farabee looked fantastic. Backlund really deserves a trophy named after him for the amount of players he has brought onto his wing and given them a ‘Backlund Bump’. The right of passage for all new players should be with him. What a fantastic leader and making the players around him better.

Frost at centre is fascinating to watch. He shy’s away from physical contact but has amazing vision. Sort of coming as advertised from Philly fans.

Put in the GT thread but Pospisal is super underrated on his 2-way back check. Saw him lift sticks and create multiple odd man rushes. I don’t know what to think of Sharky anymore. Definitely a write off season for him, hopefully not a write off tenure with the Flames for the duration of his contract.

Defensively, I think Andersson needs to get one in and get off the pine. I think he is really struggling out there.

2-2-2 against the teams we played is a fantastic road trip.

Go Flames Go!

Yes, if the Flames were 6-6 in OT instead of 3-9.. they'd at least be battling for home ice

Thing is, they're 3-9 because they lack high-end players – the exact guys you want to have out for 3-on-3. Typically, a team in the middle of the standings has a better top six and first pairing than the Flames have this year, but a worse bottom six and third pairing. In OT, they keep the better players on the ice but bench the worse ones. We see the results.

No doubt. They lack high end outside of Wolf.

I'd be interested in seeing numbers on Mavi and Pissy's share of ice time in OT.

Make that 10-3.

There’s your point differential.

I miss when we were almost automatic in OT.

At least they're squeezing points out of tough games again though.
