Yeah that first the Rangers traded in the J.T. Miller deal is top 12 protected. This one is top 10. I hate the Ranjerks myself....but if Miller can get them to pick 15 and bump Jersey to pick 14...all for the greater good.

but he is out now probably the rest of the year...so 63 games after playing 20 last year. In the last 6 seasons he has played over 63 games one time, that's not a good sign.

The Devil’s have gotten pretty unlucky this year with injuries. They were top 4 in the league until Jan 1st… and they have been falling ever since.

It is a fun thought process to go through the various options. Way more fun cheering for Devils losses. From a pure likelihood standpoint, I’ll be very happy with the pick being in the 15th to 23rd range. It was looking like a 28th+ overall pick for most of the year, so a +10ish bump is a solid win.

That said, the Flames have had zero lottery ball luck. Seen multiple generational talents go to our arch rivals. Never tried to tank / game the system. Never picked higher than 4th. Whether it is the NJ slide pick or the Vegas pick, it feels like the franchise is due.

I don’t expect the Devils to fall insanely low.

But, it would pretty much nullify the boneheaded Treliving move to rid of Monahan’s salary and a 1st. If we barely made or missed the playoffs the picks might only 5-7 spots away from each other. I can live with that.
