Weren't there snubs? Bedard, Bouchard, Strome, Thomas, Weegar, Thompson in net. Canadian teams are always looking for fit, you don't play well or don't 'fit' you could be off the team next year. Again, this is a bit of an experiment, there hasn't been a Team Canada in 9 years.

Is this happening again next year?

The bottom-4 has four Stanley Cup rings, a Norris, 2 Olympic golds and a world
Cup. And that’s before you get to Morrissey and Sanheim.

Hill and Binnington are championship goalies who won’t get rattled. Maybe Thompson should’ve made it, or Blackwood, but neither of them were in net when their teams won it all.

Montembeault is only on the roster because he was already in Montreal and none of the other veterans wanted to waste two weeks that could be spent on a beach in the Bell centre press box.

This is a super short tournament, and composure is going to be key.

Honestly the lack of real best on best National level hockey has caused my interest to drop

They've already announced that players will be going to NHL in 2026. They will alternate World Cup of Hockey and Olympics every 2 years.

This isnt like a normal team where the "bottom pair" doesnt play...they will likely be used evenly

Hmm as somebody who really likes the potentiall trade pieces available from Buffalo I have no concerns with Andersson playing with Dahlin.

Hopefully they build a great friendship and chemistry.

The US roster looks pretty good, hope Canada gets good leadership from Crosby and Mackinnon to lead the way.

Two Tkachuks in their primes? Thats gonna be a tough ask. Especially looking at the Canadian Goaltending.

1987 had:

Gretzky, Lemieux, Hawerchuk, Goulet/Messier and Bourque/Coffey

Edit: what Eric Vail said

Someone should tell Montembeault to pull what Roy did in 2002, so that Blackwood can play.

Well sure - better coaching, better training, better equipment, etc

The only thing we have, when comparing different eras, is how good the players were, relative to their own peers. And that 87 group included the two all-timers.

Blackwood probably isn't even first up, it would be Thompson who has the Capitals in 1st place

Pretty crazy that Blackwood has a .922 with the Avs and Thompson has a .921 with the Capitals and both are sitting at home while Montembeault is being outperformed by Dobes for Montreal
