Ya gotta think Weegar Pachal Bahl are staying for sure, Ras being the weird one depending on what he wants to do long term.
I wonder if the flames would do something like try out a bunch of guys from the wranglers during this homestand. Give solo 2 games, maybe give brz 2, etc

I honestly think Weegar, Bahl, Pachal, Parekh and Kuznetsov will be our d next year. 2 spots for Porier, Rasmus, Brz, Soloyov & Bean.
Rasmus makes the most sense to land someone at center. Flames look great everywhere else long term with lots of 1sts to add to the mix.

Jake Bean is #1 on the Flames in the last ten games for xGF% five on five.
Good things are happening when he's on the ice.
Don't be fooled by his lack of offensive acumen.

Bean has been good for what you would have expected and his salary.

I was just thinking yesterday that he hadn’t looked bad at all lately. Good bottom pair Dman.

Until some younger D are ready I'd leave him with Weegar and make him a defacto top four.
Bahl comes back and slides in with Andesson.
And then the third pairing is better with Hanley or hopefully a proving he belong Solovyov.
This could be found money if Bean turns into a 4/5.

Presume he gets sent back down over the upcoming two week break.

So an injured Barrie is better than a healthy Miromanov?
I wonder if Miromanov would have done better chasing down a couple of those odd man rushes last night.
Not saying either of them is the next (insert star d-man here). But don't play the injured guy.

If Solovyov is only replacement level, the Flames have just improved substantially.

Barrie is a quality person but a huge liability on the ice. He will probably be waived and assigned after he clears. Will be interesting to see how Solo does in his call up.

Realistically, this team needs one more defenseman after Bahl gets back.
Bahl-Andersson
Weegar-Solovyov
Bean-Pachal
Is okay for the time being, but getting someone to push the lesser of Solovyov/Bean down to #7 is ideal.
Frankly the less we see of Miromanov and Hanley the better. To me, they are as bad as Rooney has been, which I would also like to see Backlund shifted down to #4 C when Zary comes back. Not because Backlund should see less time on ice, but rather to upgrade the #4 C to someone better than Rooney.

Especially when the guy comes across as having zero entitlement. He has been a distraction about being scratched continuously or sent down. In fact, the opposite, he's been a clear team first person through the whole thing.
It must be tough when you see the clock expiring on the thing you love. I don't fault him or resent him in the least. He's done his best.

I don't care what the stats say, I see this guy turn over pucks all the time in his own zone and make boneheaded decisions. I think this is more a testament to his partner.
