NHL needs to figure out ways to actually promote it's players.
More marketing opportunities in the National Spot light.
More focus on players away from the rink as well as at the rink.
Need more behind the scenes access that things like the F1 show and Starting Five showed on Netflix.
People need more of a reason to care.
lol…
Most US fans are only drawn by the physicality,&/or the prospect of violence.
They’re slightly less dumb than most Canadian fans who think the game is basically chase the puck & fastest skater, while they have the minimal ability to conceptualize & appreciate the concept of elite execution of the constrained time & space decisions that occurs within invasion sports (hockey, soccer, basketball, lacrosse).
Hold your outrage as this place is one of the rare minimums where those executed decisions are for the most part appreciated.
None of this is new or rocket science, it is simply that what is being attempted at being sold as “entertainment” is not what Americans have must interest in dumping their gluttonous consumptively manipulated eyeballs into.
They want cult like fandom &/or violence.
Anything else literally competes with pillow fighting for attention& revenue.
There are too many major sports leagues in North America. In europe it's soccer and that's it so it's easy to get entire nations invested in the sport. We have football, baseball, basketball, and hockey competing for the viewership and $$ of North Americans. To make matters worse, younger generations are playing and watching sports less and less so things could get worse in the coming decades.

I think it's just sports in general.. I've definitely lost interest but that could just be losing the NHL team and I'm in general jaded about the business
