As miserable as this season has been, Quinn Hughes is making a remarkably strong case for being the best defenceman in the NHL.

It is scoreless in the Penguins Sharks game after twenty minutes. The Sharks take a penalty within the first minute of the game and with twelve seconds left in the first period.

That is and always will be Makar.

Strong case to be the bridesmaid though, I'll give you that.

The Sharks opened the scoring in the second period. Granlund with the goal.

Crosby tied it early in the third period and then Celebrini gets the go ahead goal, 2-1 Sharks. Bunting just tiedit!

The Sharks are challenging it for goaltending interface.

Pens 2nd last in the east. I don't think holding on to Crosby and Malkin for as long as they have has paid off for them. They still have trade value but not what they used to be, not even close.

The Sharks win. Good goaltending by Askarov.

Not one to come here and start debates or anything but Hughes is the best Dman in the NHL. Makar is amazing but Hughes right now is better

The advanced stats, I think, show pretty clearly that Hughes is dominating on a level rarely seen. Makar gets all the buzz, but I think you could also make a very good case for Werenski, who is on an insane run right now.

It’s amazing that no Canucks felt a need to protect Hughes the other night when crap weasel Perry threw him on his head. I guess Hughes is of more value to CP’s Canuck supporters than the players.

For all of the posturing around mcdiva, this is the kind of non-hockey play that needs to go. Or be dealt with.
