If the MacKinnon cap is real have to wonder about Makar. Might as well just send him our way. Andersson and Rooney for Makar and Mitts

Makes lots of sense, especially if they know they won’t sign him.

Avs need another C, which they are getting in Necas. They have been very dissatisfied with Mittlestadt.

So if CHI is getting a 3rd for Hall, how /why is that part of this trade as a 3-way?
It sounds like it's just another trade: Hall for a 3rd

Wonder how much salary the Hawks had to eat for a third.

Depending in the deal Avs will get some cap space as well.
Necas was a pp merchant on the Hurricanes.

Could be a 3rd for salary retention and Hall is a throw in.

Nah. He's like Draisaitl to McDavid. Gets a bump playing with MacKinnon for sure but he's legit on his own. I've had him on my fantasy teams and anytime MacKinnon's been injured he picks up the slack and produces at a high clip.

Mikko Rantanen has 22 goals, 30 assists and a plus-minus of +22 in 46 games without Nathan MacKinnon in his career.

Avalanche will be considerably worse after trading him but if he wants close to $15 million I understand why they are making the deal. Sucks to lose such a good player though.

Maybe.
I would think Hall is worth a 3rd on his own. Or close to it anyway.
If I'm CHI, and I'm giving up Hall plus eating cap space for a 3rd, it isn't going to be much cap space - maybe a million or two at most.
