A) I don't think they see Vladar as negatively as you do
B) I think they have set a split for the season around 50% and are sticking to it

A) "they" are wrong then.
B) Setting up an inflexible split when you have 2 unproven goalies seems like a very poor choice.

Again, what has Vladar accomplished, besides being one of the worst goalies in the league?

It shouldn't really matter who the tandem partner is. Both are under the same circumstances. Both are/were young highly touted goalies playing their first full season. Both teams wanted to ease them in rather than give them the starters role from the start. Oettinger took over the next season just like Wolf will.

Every stat says he's been significantly worse. Wolf has a 7.42 GSAA (8th in the league) vs Vladar's 5.28 GSAA (63rd in the league). Which is basically on pace for the type of GSAA numbers Vladar has had the past two season. He's a mediocre backup.
I'm not debating that Wolf hasn't been the more impressive of the two. Just that Vladar hasn't been as bad as some try and make him out to be. I can't really think of many games were I thought Vladar cost his team the game. I can think of games though where I thought he helped secure them a win or atleast a point.

Why?

50% of NHL starts for a young goaltender in his first full NHL season as a target is poor choice?

And I wouldn't call it inflexible. Both guys have had small runs, they're not alternating every game.

I'm guessing with the hip surgery they're being a little more patient and understanding than you.

You've always had this Wolf thing ...

50% target is fine for Wolf. He has yet to start 3 in a row this year, despite playing 3 games in 3 nights multiple times in the AHL. Again it's not about Wolf needing more game time, so much as it's about Vladar getting used as a tandem undeservedly.

Having hip surgery is a reason to play less not more.

Yes I've always had the Wolf thing, cause he's good and should have been in the NHL full time last season, but mediocre (at best) Vladar was too good for waivers or some crap.

Ottawa is 7-2-1 in their last ten; they may have stopped treading water.

We are still only at game 33. Lots of time to increase Wolf's workload in the second half of the year if they want. Splitting it to this point sure seems like the smart move to me, and see how he adjusts to the NHL and gauge his readiness for more games.

A quick heads up for viewers in BC, Yukon Territory, Manitoba, and most of Ontario (not the Senators region), the game is on Centre Ice.

Win these last 2 games before the break and we’re looking pretty good.

Starts with tonight. Have to chop down the sens.

I hate the goddamned Senators.

I hate them.

They suck.

But for whatever reason they have our goddamned number goddamned always.

So throw Vladar out there. Get what you can. Then move along.
