If McMichael keeps playing well, he's got the potential to be something special.
That being said, Wolf looks like a legit #1 goalie. You trade him for Hughes, that's a no brainer. Then you move him for a Boldy/Caufield level player, but only if you have another goalie who is better.
Unless you can fill that goalie void elsewhere, Wolf for Caufield almost certainly makes your team worse.

They would need to attach a 1st to that scrap to get anything decent.

Sometimes a young player is just that, a young player.
Kakko has a higher PPG this season, although Cozens has been better than Kakko the previous two seasons. Cozens makes 4.5 million dollars a year more and is signed forever. Have to think the Kadri contract is more appealing, it is a year shorter and you have more certainty with Nazem on what you will be getting for the remainder of the contract.

How did we miss out? They probably just didn’t the player is worth it which says a lot considering the return.

Ya I don’t think the Flames missed out, Conroy just saw that Kakko was not worth such a steep price.
This return has to scare other GM’s trying to offload crap from that draft like Zegras and Cozens. Maybe grab Zegras for a 3rd and a 5th and see if he can be mediocre?

So many players had 1-2 great years and then fell off.

It could give Adams some cover for a poor(er) return.

My list is shorter than that. No way I'm trading Wolf for a winger.

Yeah. At this point, in a re-draft:
1. Hughes
2. Caufield
3. Seider
4. Wolf
5. Boldy

We don't know this. A lot of times, these types of players aren't auctioned, meaning GMs don't keep on going back to other GMs numerous times to see if they can't get a better offer.
Personally, I would have liked to see us get this player, but sometimes you just miss out by not making that kind of an offer to begin with.

Zegras for Cozens would make the most sense if he didn’t have that massive contact. Buffalo likely has to add the 3rd and 5th.

With the inside info that flames wee interested in Kakko wonder if they soured on him? Or it could just be a case that unless rangers didn’t take back a winger there would be no room for him.

Might temper expectation return for cozens especially with the higher salary to eat

This is what they call selling low on a 2nd overall pick. I wasn’t clamoring for the Flames to trade for him but this return is pennies on the dollar.

No, he's really not.
Top 4 Dmen don't play 15-17 minutes per night, which he's done his entire career so far. And that's 250 games spread over 6 seasons and he's 28 years old now.

Flames might have been involved but really we already have too many wingers and I'm not sure Kakko is much of an upgrade.
Even if the cost was just Pachal, 3rd, and 6th it probably is worth it value wise but really what winger comes out of the lineup?
Still not sure why the Rangers decided they needed to dismantle the team and sell Trouba and Kakko for spare parts when they were 12-6-1 to start the year.
