Mike Cammalleri, who I think is the best comparable for Coronato of the last 20ish years, spent parts of two seasons before the lockout alternating between tearing up the AHL and doing just OK in the NHL before finally breaking through with the Kings at age 23.

team is having trouble scoring so bench their leading scorers lol. Huberdeau and Kuzmenko are tied for 2nd in scoring on the team with Zary.
But Huberdeau had 5 points in his first 2 games, 2 points in 7 games since. And that’s with a 33% shooting percentage. He only has 12 shots.

And looking poor doing it.

But he’s not being benched. He’s not close to their worse player.

Well, whatever Huska decides as others have said i hope he keeps the lines together for a while to see if chemistry develops.

I thought Honzek looked pretty trepidatious last night. He may be Wrangler bound soon.

I think that'd be a good move. It'd be cool to see Pelletier, Coronato, and Honzek all be part of a Wranglers push for a Calder Cup.

He definitely needs to go down in the next 2-3 games and I'd be bringing Coronato back up. Honzek is doing ok in a sense that he's fitting in and not woefully out of place in the NHL, but if you want to develop his offensive game, confidence et al. The place to do it at this point is with the Wranglers IMO.

Do you actually want to watch Pelletier & Coronato play for a Calder Cup? That would mean neither has cracked the NHL roster on a non-competitive team by spring. It further implies vets are clogging up the roster, Rooney and perhaps Mantha haven't been traded. in Pelletier's case it means the window is closing and any chance of having an NHL career is slim to none. In Coronato's case it means more unease as his agents are already getting jumpy. I just don't see anything beneficial about this.

Wouldn't the AHL playoffs happen after the Flames season is over?

Why not have both?

Pelletier is going to be 24 before the end of the season and is in d+6 year.

Especially considering he's undersized, kind of have to hop he starts sticking in the NHL at some point this year.

The runway for him being any type of impact player in the NHL is quickly running out

He went unclaimed so his runway is pretty much gone

Just looking for a comeback

Him going unclaimed has little bearing on his own runway. It only reflects what teams think his runway is. But it wouldn't be any different if, say, he'd been claimed by another team.

Well, it means nobody thinks he is worth giving the chance

You need a chance to prove yourself

Well, knowledgeable GM's think little of his runway. That's not irrelevant.

GMs with limited roster space on the glut day for waivers didn't claim him.

That's all we know.

We have know idea what 31 GMs think.

NHL GMs thought it took attaching a 2nd round pick to Jake Walman to take on his contract from Detroit (a very reasonable 2 x $3.4M).

He looks like a legitimate top pairing d-man for San Jose right now even though that team is horrible.

Sometimes NHL GMs just get it wrong too.

That's probably a good comparable.

He is not worth their limited space?

Most guys they went unclaimed after on waiver after D+5 season have little run way left.

He may make a comeback but there isn’t a whole lot of runway left, especially for the Flames

Sometimes, but let’s not pretend that’s the norm.
