Again, there are always at least 3 sides to every story (along with the various interpretations of what is told). And no one is getting unvarnished truth in these books.

The NHL records in your link show Keenan was fired Jan 19, 1999. However, he was acting general manager after Pat Quinn was fired, and Brian Burke took over GM duties on June 22, 1998. But Keenan remained as coach until January 1999, when he was fired and Marc Crawford hired.
I believe that's where the discrepancy lies.
