Carolina is good. They showed up to play and took the Flames seriously.

If there's one thing to be positive about, it's that other teams have to bring their A game to beat the Flames.

First regulation loss and it was game 7. you’d think it would be our first win in 7 games but that’s not the case.

Keep it up Flames!

"If you think this is going to end well, you havent been paying attention."

We know how this season is going to end.

The Hurricanes are a good team, the Flames fought and fought but the Canes overcame.

Its gonna happen. Its going to happen a lot.

For the next little while we're going to have to celebrate the little wins.

A byproduct of his personality and lack of maturity?

I do agree he is unlikely to change style as I'm sure various coaches have tried. He's still effective and his line scores goals but he is predictable.

This team is definitely short an NHL center. Imagine if Backlund or Kadri were hurt.

It's a bit of a cart/horse thing though. Vladar gives you a much better chance at a high draft pick (he was bad in the first game, and was very lucky some goals were called back against Edmonton that weren't good too) where as Wolf is close to entering that difference maker category (if all continues to move forward).
I think it's more about just being fair to both guys and not just giving the starting job to Wolf because he's supposed to be the guy for years to come.

I wouldn't really say Vladar was bad against Vancouver. He had a rough first but so did the whole team. He gave them a chance to comeback and win.

He's let in some goals he shouldn't have but so has Wolf.

Tank commander revving engine!

It was tough to watch the last few min. I wanted the Flames to score to tie it... but also didn't want the Flames to tie it. As Commodore said on BarnBurner "Flames heading to the 12th overall pick" doesn't excite me.

I think that game and the next four will be good benchmark games. Winnipeg, Vegas, Utah and New Jersey have all looked good. If we could win two or more that would be really good in my mind.

Even though we lost I didn’t think we looked out of place last night. We just needed to finish a few more of our chances. I think Sharangovich will make a big difference.

That's already happening. There's a better chance at a wildcard than a top 5 pick with how mediocre the west is.

Don't understand cheering for them to not tie it given the storybook start. That's a strange way to show fandom.

I thought the Canes dominated, built a lead, and then costed to a win.
First half of the game looked very much like an NHL contender vs AHL contender.

I think Backlund, Kadri, Weegar, Coleman, and Anderson will keep the Flames out of the basement this year.

This was a good game for our young/new players. They faced a good team that pressured them all night and they adjusted and made a game of it. In this situation perhaps a loss like this is better than a win.

I get it. Perhaps it's an "old guy" thing. It stems from being the hardest core fan from the 86 run up to Johnny and Matthew leaving.

35 years of failure as a franchise. Time to try something new.

That nutshot between the legs is always a cringe worthy dirty play every time I see it...

Regardless of team / player.

Also he's just not a good passer. It's a lack of vision, but often when he sees an opportunity to pass - he doesn't put it where it needs to be.

All unlikely to change. He's a valuable player who does a lot of things well. Distributing the puck and passing is not one of them.

What I don't get is changing the lines when you're 5-0-1. I recall Darryl Sutter doing that after a hot start a few years ago and that sewered the season. Not every game is going to be a masterpiece. It's okay to win ugly from time to time.

I am also not sold on Vladar. He has been excellent making the first save, but he kicks out so many rebounds. I feel like he has been very lucky to not have more goals against.

Good bounce back last night after a terrible 25-30 minutes (after the good 5 minute start).

Interesting game, Flames for a big part of the game were totally out of it

Vladar kept them in it,

The Canes are a good team, and they always play the Flames well. Every time we paly them, I am left thinking this is a legitimate cup contender. Every team has teams that it consistently plays well against - we are one of those teams for them.

None the less, the Flames fought hard. Again, I expect a lot of hard-fought, one-goal losses this year.
