Van - Di Giuseppe

I don't know contract status or anything but I've always thought he passes the eye test when we play Van. He comes off like Lomberg so I guess it doesn't really make sense for us, especially with so many of our own guys seemingly ready to step up.

What...like the entire town? I think Ontario might have something to say about that.

Calgary can't just start annexing parts of Canada....or can we...?

I think mgmt brought in too many D, now they have to potentially shed one or two that have value just to get down to 6/7.

On the other hand, if guys can't crack the lineup of a team expected to be bad, maybe they just don't hold much as value as you think.

Kuznetsov, despite being a recent 2nd rounder, seems to have flown under the radar. The guy who was drafted five rounds later and is two years older is on waivers and it's a surprise.

Aren't you a bumonton fan?

LoL the Oilers would claim at least several of these "sucky team D" with their current derpth.

I saw his name and thought that if Treliving were still here, he is exactly the kind of player he’d claim.

This team has like, two veterans on each forward line, how can we possibly need more veterans?

We'll have maybe 3-4 guys under 25 on the roster when the season begins. We need more youth, not another old and bad player.

Waivers are always low risk so that part I get, but reward...meh. Somebody's 6-7 eventually?

Nope. Just because you wildly shout out "OIler Fan!" at everyone who disagrees with your viewpoints doesn't make them actual Oiler fans. You sound like a Republican wildly accusing everyone of something and it usually turns out they're being hypocrites.

I'm not saying Solo is useless. But at the moment he's a 24-year-old who has shown some promise but obviously not enough to stick. There are lots of players like him around and since picking him up on waivers means they have to keep him or just waive him again, it's just not likely and at this point, who would give up an asset for him? At best you'd get a similar guy who hasn't stuck with his team, either.

He easily plays in Edmontons top 6.

Okay. But does that mean he has a lot of value around the NHL?

Hopefully he clears. I rather like him, and he just keeps pushing beyond expectations. I am sure he will earn a call-up sooner than later if he goes unclaimed.

I think its a strategic waive...nobody is in a position to guarantee him a roster spot right now and the Flames will get a 30 day waiver exempt period with him

I'm with you on this. Is he a dead ringer to stay up on any other squad?
I don't know, and I don't think any other team knows just yet, either.

Exactly. He's not getting claimed as someone that can't crack the NHL and doesn't really have a big time upside in any category. He is still a great project and could be something for the org, but it might be a while yet.
