While it is early, Hoskins 3g 5a 8pts in 6 games is 2nd in freshmen scoring in all NCAA, ahead of Hage and Hagens. He is tied for 15th in scoring, regardless of class
Suniev is tied for 11th in NCAA scoring

Kind of weird how Penn State, despite having a 4-1 record is at the bottom of Big Ten standings with zero points, because all of their games were against non-conference opponents.

this isn't meant as a negative reply by any means, as Hoskin settling in to this rather large step up in league is very good early news. but is worth remembering that he is older than Suniev and thus of course Hage, Hagens etc too

The Purple Eagles themselves skew older. Hoskin is among the youngest (of only four 2004s) on the team. EDIT: One 2005 player

He's 20, so his pathway definitely has less runway than a D0 prospect but the early results are encouraging. He went from a second tier junior league to the NCAA and the results are basically as good as you can hope for.
If he can keep it up for a full season you can move him up from "long shot prospect" to "maybe an actual prospect" lol
Different team, different situation but it is rather impressive that Sergeev in his freshman year (.912) and sophmore year (.913) is now at .928 that is a nice jump.

Penn State will go as far as Sergeev will carry them.... which is an ideal situation for the Flames. If he pulls it off, they know they've got a player.

Thanks very much. Leading the country in goal scoring even at this early stage is a thrill. More importantly, his faceoff stats are strong. I think he's top five in the country in faceoff wins. He's not a top six guy in the NHL but if he can kill penalties and win faceoffs, that's valuable.
