"The north of Italy always have the money and the power. They punish the south since 100s of years. Even today, they put up their nose at us like we're peasants! *SPITS* I hate the north!"
I grew tired of Artie near the end. I think the writers did as well, as he basically disappeared in season six. I still don't understand his relationship with Charmaine. Were they married... Partners... Seperated? It was confusing.
They were always shown arguing, but I don't think it was ever that serious until Artie went on that arc where he felt like he needed to "lay the law down" and be an alpha man. Charmaine was a nag on the show, but often for good reason as Artie was incredibly naive.
They were always married and had 2 kids. Their relationship started to get a little rocky, with arguments more frequent leading up eventually to Charmaine threatening to divorce Artie after he challenged her to divorce him. Real bright one he is...
He eventually murdered Dolan. His demise was quite the shock...
How about poor Davey Scatino (Robert Patrick). Tony set him up from day one to ruin him. He seemed like a decent guy, and was friends with Tony going back to highschool.
Then Tony sets him up to ruin in that high end poker game. Only for Davey to be bled dry by Tony and Richie. Just like in Goodfellas they force him into bankruptcy... then straight into the nuthouse.
It was such a great performance by Patrick as well. Another character you empathize with on one hand, but despise on the other for destroying his family's future.
Hahaha the poker games reminds me of definitely one of my favorite scenes of the entire series. When Sil loses his mind during one of the games.
One of my favourite parts is all the people who are collateral damage. Yet Tony, members of his family and gangsters continually act like they weren’t the reason these people’s lives were ruined.
Artie, first having his restaurant blown up and then the issue with Tony forgiving his debt, Chris’ writer friend, Sal Vitro, Robert Patrick’s character. I’m sure there’s others I’m forgetting.
Artie even called out Tony for it after he ended up in the hospital. Time and time again we saw various connected characters draw innocent people into their web and we as viewers got to watch them flame out. When Chris went to collect from JT and JT asked for help via I think a loan and Chris said he wouldn’t enable him. Like inviting him to those poker games wasn’t enabling him. Same with Robert Patrick and Tony.
Reminds me a bit of the way Vito couldn’t give up the life and maintain an honest living. These side characters so frequently were drawn in by the lure of the lifestyle the organized crime guys had and didn’t realize they were the sucker until it was too late.

The Sopranos just had so many great moments. Tony and Big ##### taking out the two kids who tried to whack Chris. Tony confirming Big ##### was a rat in a dream (the fish saying "you know I'm a rat, right ton?") Janice killing Richie. Tony killing Ralfie. Tony killing Tony B. Phil's death, as pointed out. The Pine Barrens, widely regarded as one of the best episodes of television. Jackie Aprile Jr getting whacked. Silvio whacking Adriana.
And of course, the Season Finale, which was talked about a lot, not least of which was because so many people were convinced their tv cut out.
Artie Bucco sucks. He wanted to be Tony, or in his crew at least, but he was too much of a #####.
The way he creeped on Adriana and Elodie was so pathetic. And he had a hotter wife than any of the others, who would put up with his bull####, and she worked hard. He should have worshiped her.
Adrianna's death was so devastating. After all she had been though, scrambling away from Sil on her hands and knees was tough to stomach.
I got a kick out of the reference on Sons of Anarchy when Jax meets with Luann at that warehouse in season 2. She's panicked and convinced Jax is going to whack her, and when he realizes she's afraid he says something along the lines of "Did you think I was going to Adrianna you?". Of course, Drea de Matteo plays the role of Jax's junkie ex.

All time best TV show in my books. The Sopranos changed the game and raised the bar for the industry - without The Sopranos, I don’t think we ever get shows like Breaking Bad.
