I would have Solo ahead of Grush.

For everyone talking about Morin, he was ranked #7 last year and then had a worse D+1 season. Him dropping to Round 8 or 9 shouldn't be that big of a surprise.

Hope so.

Nothing better than a prospect waaaaay down on the list forcing his way onto the NHL roster and impressing.

Hopefully he is this years Pospisil.

I didn't flinch on the Gridin/Pelletier run off possibility but this one has a chance.

To me what's cool is the # of legit choices you have this point

Strong arguments could be made for Basha, Morin, Stromgren and Grushnikov (who I think will be the guy we look back on and see he was too low, he just reeks of an NHLer)

You can then also make arguments for Mews (given upside), Poirier (would be more in the discussion if not for the injury last year), Soloyov (close to the NHL) and even Suniev.

This is way more fun when things are this interesting.

If anything even dropping one spot is still a ton of love for him, given how much deeper the pool is now

Yeah, and just wait until next year. I can't remember (because the Caps effed us with CapFreindly) but the Flames have something like 5-6 more picks in the first three rounds and haven't even sold at the deadline yet, which we can reasonably assume is what will happen.

IIRC they 8-9 picks total for 2025 as of today?

All those prospects will get added and not many of these ones will graduate I don't think. Wolf, Coronato and Pelletier hopefully will graduate successfully. Maybe one of Solovyov or Grushnikov?

Can't see anyone else doing it completely aside from a low ranked surprise. Should be a few cups of coffee though.

That's me, at any rate. I was holding off on Basha partly because he's a local kid, and I'm suspicious of letting my emotions decide the vote. With Gridin, I had nothing but the player's own performance to influence me.

Now I'm into ‘AINEC’ territory, so I feel free to go with Basha.

Solo is definitely my number one still left on the board. That man blocks shots for breakfast

So I think 10 votes is a decent enough gap to call Basha the winner. They were only 5 votes separating them yesterday afternoon.

I'll wait 10 minutes and look for pro run off out cry and then put up round 9 with Basha graduated.
