Very happy for Monny. Him and Johnny were two of my all-time favourite Flames. I hope this re-ignites Johnny as a player as I don’t hold any ill-will towards him for what happened (probably one of the few and he was my favourite player while here). Hoping they do well together.

Monahan to Johnny after a few weeks living in Columbus:

“So tell me again why it made sense for us to leave Calgary to play here?”

A nice story. Hope they both play well.

Salim is such a hack and so far removed from hockey reality.
He's an Oilers fan working as a Flames beat reporter for a major network.

I have no issues with people being fans of other teams but their #1 rival? Cmon now.

Gross. I wanted better things for Monahan than playing in Columbus.

Glad he cashed in. For a while, it looked like his NHL career might be drawing to a close. Great story, and a great human.

Couldn't be happier for Monny. Maybe the only ex-Flame I actively cheer for, and someone who never chose to leave.

It's a bit of a bummer he'll help out Johnny, but I'll take it if it means the rest of Sean's career is uplifting rather than what it looked like a few years ago. I remember the moment we drafted him, and how excited I was in that Ottawa bar. Was writing out names and his was the only one in all caps.

And no matter what happens the 25 million won't hurt.

Good job Monny!

You can't ask for much better than $27.5M for him, massive payday set him up for life. Glad he got paid.

Watch them go on a run just to complete the full kick in the nuts to flames fans.

Love this for two buds in Mony and Johnny. Hope this makes Columbus better and they finish above the Flames.

"Because we're still rich as hell playing our favourites sport, but there's no constant whining about being a choker or injury-prone or anything. Nobody has asked me once if I want to leave for Philadelphia or NJ. Nobody care's and that's alright. Hey, did you see Chucky, Benny swimming in the ocean with the Cup? Pretty cool. They're also rich as hell and nobody cares unless they win, so that's alright."

I am shocked at this contract. Like shocked. Love monahan but this will likely be a buyout candidate in 3 years.

Johnny vs Mony Challenge V2.0?

Maybe one can hit the cross bar from center this time.
