Does everyone forget how good Nashville was the last 3/4 of the season last year, after a slow start?

They have a perennial Vezina contending goalie and perennial Norris contending Dman, they have an absolute stud in Forsberg up front.

IMO these signings will help them battle for the division title next year

Good on Nashville. Go for it if you think you are ready. Let's see if it works out for them.

I like all the players and AAVs for Nashville, but what's up with the term on these players? If this doesn't work out they're stuck with these guys for far too long.

Still, they're instantly a playoff team with these signings, especially after last year with a worse team. They could surprise and win a round or two.

He's arguing they are not doing that. There were a few negatives to work through.

Sorry, but Saros is not a top 3 goaltender. I'd put Bob, Swayman, Hellebuyck, Shesterkin, Demko, Markstrom, Ullmark, and probably Oettinger and Hill ahead of him. Nor is he a perennial Vezina candidate. His numbers last year were mid at best. They were about the same as Connor Ingram in AZ.

Fair enough. Splitting hairs though. He is very good.

6th
3rd

in Vezina voting 2021-2023.

A career .917 save % in 9 seasons

The point was they have a strong core of players at the important positions to build around.

On Nov 15th, NSH was 30th overall (right behind EDM).

From that point on, they were 6th:

EDM: 93
CAR: 93
WPG: 92
NYR: 91
DAL: 90
NSH: 89
FLA: 89

they were very good, after a slow start, and adding these guys should solidify them as a legit playoff team this year

Besides the climate, the taxes, the fanbase, and the fact they typically have a pretty good team?

I’d wager NSH is in the top 10 most attractive destinations for NHLers.

Nashville is going to be a prime candidate for paying to get some of these crazy contracts off of their hands…just saying.

Nashville loading up. Trotz loves free agency like no other GM. Look at how much he has added the last 2 offseasons on July 1

Edmonton and Nashville also had to go big streaks just make it in. That’s likely not to happen again.

Edmonton won 16 in a row and 8 in a row twice. I think Nashville had a 20 game point streak.

so if you get your points as part of a streak, it's not as legit as if you got them with some losses in between?

NSH is a strong team - maybe the most under-rated last year, and likely to be better this year

And 5th this year. He’s in the mix for the vezina annually like you said.

Those are historic streaks I believe.

I’m just saying they probably don’t do that again. They need to become a more consistent team.

I have my doubts. Teams built through free agency have a hard time being consistent. We saw it here under Sutter.

The Preds look to be doing what the Flames did for years. Bolster a middling team through free agency.

Good pieces, but depreciating.

I'm glad we're not doing that any more.

Coming into today, they had a Norris-caliber defenseman, a Vezina-caliber goalie, and an Adams-caliber coach

Now they have a solid, but old top six that can put pucks in the net.

Hard to blame Nashville for trying when you're that close to being a contender (on paper).
