Watching Jacob Battaglia, you can definitely see he has some decent hands. His stats don't overwhelm, but he was second on the team in scoring and two years younger than the player ahead of him. He is an interesting player with definite offensive upside. I don't mind this pick at all.
It's interesting in that if you map out his and Sennecke's production profile for the season it's really quite similar.
And it was Sennecke's last production that made him 3rd overall pick, and Battaglia was right there with him in the final half of the season production wise but just didn't have the big playoff run.
Make that 10g, 10a in 13 games now.....as a true 18 year old for the season it is quite impressive and encouraging that he looks to be verging on elite prospect status.

Not a surprise when you look at his draft season. IIRC, he was buried in the lineup, but a coaching change elevated him in the lineup, and he was lights-out (I am sure this was spoken about in the first page or so of this thread). For a guy with size, he has some nice speed, hands and IQ. One of the more intriguing prospects to watch this year.

Thought I would bump this thread with a Jacob Battaglia interview. Not only is he really good at hockey, but he comes across as a very likable person too.

And this was his 18YO season (just turned 19 in March) - he still shaves with a washcloth.
Give him another year in junior, then we'll see what we've got. TONS of potential. And a big frame - they list him at 6'1" 202lbs, he might be a 215-220 pounder once he is man-sized.

I could see maxing out at 215 but even at 6.1 and 210lbs he would be miserable to play against.
