Do we have a depth defenceman that he can give us a 3rd 4th and 5th for. He loves those trades.

"Oh, you don't have a 2025 first? What a coincidence. Fine, we'll take your 2024 and 2026 firsts. #### you Bradley."

Trade Kadri for a 1st
Sign Monahan on July 1st.
It's like it never happened.

He is like 0% with Flames rumours. This is the same bum who had Kadri to the Islanders as a done deal, the contract was in Lou's drawer just had to be filed.

Rumours don't all come to fruition ffs.
Pagnotta has been around for a long time. He is definitely not a Friedman, but Friedman only ever goes with stuff right before it becomes official - he hears a lot more, but only breaks stuff just as it effectively comes to fruition.

I think the speculation is legit. I just don't see Kadri wanting to be here through a rebuild, at all. And he's got the personality to type to ask for a change if he's not feeling it. Doesn't surprise me there's rumours.

I am pretty sure Conroy is exploring the trade market for pretty much every player on the roster.

They were talking about this possibility on Barn Burner yesterday, because it does make sense. Kadri came with the best intentions, performed well, and has been a great professional, but at his age it doesn't make sense to keep him for a rebuild for both the Flames and Kadri.
I think this is how a lot of "insiders" come up with "rumours". They come up with or hear a suggestion that makes a lot of sense and then pass it off as a rumour. And then it happens, because of course it did. Things that make sense often happen, because they make sense.

Yeah he's going nowhere, 7 more years left and buyout proof, nobody will ever trade for that deal... that deal is going to be an albatross even when the flames are competitive again because the guy can't be sent down due to his NMC and doesn't play defence well enough to be in the bottom six.
Unfortunately just have to wear that one for a long time and hope that his passing helps a youngster pick up a few goals.
At least for the next 3/4 years it will help the flames hit the cap floor, but after that it's going to really hurt for the last few years.

If Kadri does get moved, expect the Weegar talk to Ottawa to heat up real fast

The tank would really, really be on if they got rid of Kadri. Would need a C coming back I would think. The UFA class for centers is pretty grim. Maybe NYR can't fit in one of Wennberg or Roslovic? (who I think more of a winger, but CapFriendly have as RW/C).
Lindholm for 1 year? (ducks for cover).

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.

So a thought or idea is now a rumour?
If that is how it works we would all be insiders.

Whether this is legit or not, it's always felt like Conroy's messaging around remaining competitive was really being delivered for Kadri, Backlund, Coleman and Weegar's benefit--the heart and soul guys that he wanted to keep to maintain a strong culture.
Like the rest of us, Kadri may no longer be buying it.

He is exactly the kind of playoff stud that would’ve helped a team like the Oilers win the cup. So I am really happy that he’s going to be traded this off-season and probably go to any team not named the Edmonton Oilers.

Trade Kadri to Montreal and get our 1st rounder back. Then we won’t have to worry about how the trade conditions work. Haha!

I love Kadri, and would be happy to have him around as a veteran for the rebuild, but if Kadri is open to moving and the Flames can get a 1st round pick for him, they absolutely should do it.

Hmmm not a full tear down. Sends the starting goalie away for a draft pick and 3rd pair dman. Trades away a winger for a pick.
