In his three full seasons as Head Coach in Minnesota they had a .661 winning percentage in the regular season which was good enough for 6th in the entire NHL.

IMO those teams were no where close to that good.

Jared Spurgeon was his number 1 dman, and Kaprizov, Zuccarello, and Eriksson Ek were his three best forwards. Talbot, Fleury, Kahkonen, and Gustavsson were his goalies.

How he got that team to a winning percentage above .650 is remarkable. He got criticized for not winning a playoff round, but that's what happens when your team is overperforming and then has to play Knights, Blues, and Stars teams in round 1 that are just better teams.

I find it cruddy that Todd Mclellan can't work. He has a contract and is making money, but the league should step in to come to a deal. I presume Columbus wants him cheap. Maybe there is a formula they can create.

I think Evason is a better hire so the Kings did them a favor but Rob Blake once again shows why he’s such a crappy GM.

How do we know it's Blake's fault? Maybe Columbus just wanted to cheap out the salary, knowing the Kings would have to make up the rest.

Johnny approved?

Evason looks pretty intense.

He'll do well there. Look for some bounce back seasons from some players.

If you look deeper into their roster it didn't get much better either. Brodin as the 2 defenceman and a rotating cast of guys in the 3 to 6 spots. Also had a roster that got ball kicked by the Suter and Parise buyouts that ate up a lot of cap space.

But given how intense he appears, he will have a shelf life and might be a bit harsh on young players trying to break into the league. Not unlike Darryl Sutter. Columbus needs a bit more intensity behind the bench and it will be interesting to see how he does. They do have some talented younger players who need to crap or vacate the stall.
