Who else would like to give the same take?
I don't think it's been repeated enough.

A little under 1.5M is the cap hit if they bury him I think. assuming none of his presently retained salary follows him.

Couldn't hurt the PP that's for sure.

Surprisingly, he wasn't a very good contributor on the PP over the last couple of seasons. I think he's best in transition.

See if he clears waivers and then retain on him and dump him if he clears?

Picking him up would be the stupidest thing we could do, we cleared cap space to weaponize it by acquiring assets for taking useless players on bad contracts. So we just take Vrana for free essentially.

The on-waviers, off-waivers and then back on-waviers suggests to me there was probably some adminstrative/paper work error that occurred when the team attempted to put Vrana on waivers yesterday (the first time).

Either that or they were working on a deal that didn't happen.

I don't see him as a useless player on a bad contract. He's fast, has a great shot, and he's money on breakaways. He's far from the perfect player, and I haven't watched the Blues much this year, but he brings a lot of things the Flames are currently lacking. You risk next to nothing by giving him a tryout until the end of the year.

You risk not having cap space to help teams make trades at the deadline by being the third party retaining salary, which if I remember from last year was extremely valuable.
