I like Dan but he's too inconsistent. In his third season now he hasn't really taken that next step. What you see is what you'll get probably. To his credit, he can put together an amazing period after a bad one. The problem is he has those bad ones pretty frequently and this team can't afford that.
It's time for Wolf full time.

Thought Wolf played well, no chance on either goal, made some good saves otherwise.
Rest of the team was bad. Mangiapane seems to have forgotten how to handle the puck. Anderson passing up a shot down Main Street after a nice pass from Huberdeau can’t happen. Not really sure who looked good out there tonight.
|
But for that huge giveaway on the last powerplay, Huberdeau played well. Aside from that - Greer. Weegar for the most part.

Wolfs been pretty underwhelming in his NHL opportunities. He bears no brunt in the loss, nor am I writing him off. But I havent really seen him make anything exceptional happen and hes got alot of GA that I see alot of X and CP having to over explain how it wasnt his fault.
In a season like this Im prepared to give him a ton of runway, but I feel like we gotta be honest that in his limited opportunties he hasnt done anything of note for someone so highly touted.

It doesn't help that he gets in when the game is already lost. Just in case maybe that makes a difference.

Weegar had a couple big giveaways in the first. Huberdeau was decent all night.
If the Flames actually trade Tanev and Hanifin for prospects and picks (like I hope they do) that backend will be gruesome down the stretch. Two NHL dmen and then 4 other players who play defence is an almost certain recipe for a top 5 pick.

2012-2015 I was envious of the Kings.
Now in 2023 the Kings have rebuilt already and again I'm envious of them..
Why can't the Flames just get their #### together and build a team right once?

Dube…brutal
Mangiapane…brutal but at 3x the price
Not sure we’ve seen a game yet where these guys have outplayed Zary.
Ruzicka was a bright spot. The whole 4th line looked decent.
Can’t fault Wolf on either goal. Love the way he moves in the crease. Extremely athletic and tracks the puck well.

I dont think I sounded upset?
Can I say he let in any stinkers in his appearances this year? Maybe one. But again for a guy whos blown the doors off every level hes looked pretty average in the NHL. .882 SV% and 6 GA in 1.5 games this season. For a guy alot of people have talked about like he could step up into a starters role he sure hasnt shown it yet. And again I realize its not alot but the sample shown so far sure isnt impressive so far.

This is pretty laughable.
Most of CP was super patient last season with Markstrom, myself included.
Wolf has had two and a half games. One of which he was a mid game replacement in front of a team in disarray.
Then on top of that, one of his goals against he was run into by one of his own players, while another gave the puck away. Not to mention the Zadorov gaffe in the last game Wolf started.
People around here think they're making a point with the "see? look at Wolf's SV%!" Difference is we've been sitting through 75 games over the past two seasons of sub .900SV% from Markstrom.
Excuse us if we want to see something different. Sheesh.

The one retro game for Dube (vs VAN?)
But yeah, aside from that... it's a little pathetic when a rookie kid fresh off the AHL squad comes in and shows you up night after night as an NHLer.

Flames are closer to last in the West (8 points) than they are to 3rd in the Pacific (10 points).
Perfectly mediocre. An absolute non-factor in the NHL.
Zadorov is gone. Now get Lindholm, Hanifin, and Tanev out of here.

Should've sat Dube and kept the Kadri and the kids line together, unless Pospisil needs maintenance. Pospisil was so much better on that line, Dube kinda drag that line down. Can't pass to his teammates and can't receive pass from his teammates, didn't know what to do with the puck all night long.
