This has demonstrated that on one PP, Andersson kept passing it back and forth with Lindholm, the defending team didn't need to move. Meanwhile, Huberdeau over on the other side was munching popcorn. Andersson didn't even glance over to Huberdeau to make the defending team guessing a little. It was frustrating to watch and what frustrating is people keep blaming Huberdeau.

Lets see the PP numbers when the Flames are in their own city for more than a game or two at a time

I'm almost certain they improve with more practice time, Flames have had the worst travel in the league and the least days at home

Savard said he doesn't really give a system in zone, just play to your talents and move it around quickly.

I think his work is more with zone entries and faceoffs.

Well, their zone entries have never been worse.

As for systems, the best PPs have lots of set plays.

I don't think these guys can improvise well while keeping their feet moving. See: chemistry issues at even strength

I think they need a whole book of set plays where each guy knows their assignment

First set play: Lindholm stands in the slot **on the right side of the play to make a one-time shot** and someone like Huberdeau puts the puck on his stick.

The thing is set plays and being more prescriptive can also help with the confidence side of things.

They are clearly lacking confidence and creativity right now on the PP...I'm not sure telling them "Move your feet more and play fast" is going to fix it.

I do think that potentially giving them a couple of plays to maybe help build confidence if something works wouldn't be a bad idea.

PPs work when players play with confidence and the plays they are trying to make become second nature, but when that's not happening sometimes you need to give them something to act as a spark.

One thing I don't understand, when it's 4 on 4, they can move it quickly without hesitation. Why when they are up one man, they hesitate?

Maybe they should just have one guy stand leaning against the boards outside the blue line until they set up in the zone as a four man unit, then leaning guy joins the PP in the zone.
