All I can get
|
1. Trade away all the bad, old and expensive players.
2. Trade for good, young and inexpensive players.
3. ?????????
4. Win Cup.

1st overall is very likely to be franchise altering. Even 2nd or 3rd OV is likely to be franchise altering. Only San Jose looks awful, the door is open for 2nd last spot.

Which team?
We’re talking about the Flames here, right?
We’ve watched them play this season?

Let the fire sale begin! I wonder who’d be interested in Kadri

If they bring up some wranglers and play loose they might be better than they are now all depressed and waiting for the shoe to drop. The tank might be more secure with the current group

I think you have to space them out. Too much to sort on/leading up to deadline, and you can’t risk your leverage position.
Tanev and Z in advance, Hanifin early if you get your socks blown off, but otherwise having the two biggest UFA prizes on deadline is a good hand to play.

This is good news. The rookies are almost playing better than the ufa's anyway (Lindholm specifically). The team probably won't be any worse on the ice after this purge. Get Pelletier back from injury and hopefully Coronato grows from his Wrangler time and they could be fun to watch.

No way it’s 20 less over 8 years.

Well I'm assuming 7 years. Around $6MM.
Frankly I don't think he's the quality of player you need to throw max term at. Shocked the Flames were willing to go to $7.5MM plus over that term.

What about zero assets? He gave away a first round pick and Sean Monahan to clear the cap room.

No way he only gets 6 million. 6.75-7x8 years is my guess if a team trades for him with the intent to sign him.

Remember Dreger is Nonis's cousin, so there's a good chance anything he's saying is coming from the team (unofficially official).

Kadri's contract was also not structured to be buyout proof, especially in the last 2 years.
Could be a useful feature for a team that wants to go all in and deal with the consequences later.

The shocker is that all these players who are heading into UFA aren't playing out of their minds to get the best contract they can get going forward. Instead, they seem to be coasting. Maybe its like Zadorov and they intend to perform on their next team this year instead of this one.

That is not exactly true; he gave up a 1st and Monahan.

Kadri is very tradeable if the Flames take a garbage contract back
Contending teams don’t care about Kadri in 6 years
But you will certainly need to take money and term of garbage back as part of the deal
