Scoring Winger
|
Guys, please stop making positive suggestions and contributions to the Flames lineup. We are losing games just fine and inching towards a top 3 pick with the way things are.
Edit: Unless you're suggesting we lose games 6-4, etc. for the rest of the season. In which case, carry on.

You are saying that Vladar or Wolf would have allowed one or less...this is not the hill to die on

Oh you would know a thing or two about dying on hills. lol
So you rather us lose 4-3 to the Stars with a good Markstrom performance than a 6-5 win where Vladar plays like kyit? Guys just want to score more for Darth. Well last year anyways.
and Vladar has played way better than Marky against the Oilers. I

too bad most of the time when Markstrom starts we only score 0,1 or 2 goals.

The team that they played when they scratched Johnny? Columbus Blue Jackets... I think they knew something back then and tried to hide him from them.

Huberdeau gets benched at the end of the game with the goalie out and he finds his way back to the top line the day after. Coach sending a strong message...

This doesn't bother me. Nothing bothers me at this point. I am taking this season as year one of a rebuild, and it is easy to rationalize anything.
Coronato is the extra forward? Good! That means we are keeping him rather than showcasing him.
Hope the vets pot in some goals and look good, I want that trade value up! Works even when the team wins.
Seriously, I just look at this season as 'whatever'. I didn't assume that the Flames were entering this season with any realistic chance at winning a cup, or even going on a deep playoff run. I certainly hope for that every season, even during the rebuild I had hope for that. My expectations is that this the all-powerful Hockey Gods making us regret all the 'rebuilding is easy' and 'rebuilding is fun' talk we had starting in 2014-15, and only really having to suffer through a really awful team in the lockout 2012-13 year.
Huska certainly isn't shy of using the blender, but I hope he starts finding some combos that work. This team needs to find some chemistry at some point, even if they are going scorched earth (which they are not).
Last night's game? As good as it gets. Cheering for the win, but it was also a great loss as it was exciting, team didn't quit, and they looked good. Plus Zary - a young kid playing his first game - gives yet another reason for optimism. I have tonnes of it now. I would have less of it if this team was somewhere in the mushy middle, never getting on a roll, and we are discussing what players to unload and for what, or what players to acquire to fix this mess.
Flames are in a good spot now. You can't decide to suddenly rebuild at the trade deadline. It will be difficult to get a top 10 pick that way. Flames are in the basement, and that's really the best place for them. If they are going to start winning, then they better keep on winning and really turn things around. If they are going to lose, then just keep losing.
Huska still has to coach, figure out how to make things work, and go from there. You at least increase trade values if nothing else. I won't complain about Coronato or any other young kid sitting out every now and then. That's ok. Keep these young kids hungry. They aren't going anywhere.
I do hope that Huska changes the settings on the blender from High and Liquefy, down to Low and Mix instead. There is a lot of pressure to find combos that work, and I get that, but at some point you are just going to burn out that motor if you leave it on high all the time. Small gripe, and i am sure that eventually some pairings start to show chemistry.

I think sometimes you keep people like Hunt in the lineup to send a message.
Swapping Huberdeau around the lines with other vets isn’t a message. But moving a player like Hunt during the game into Huberdeau’s spot is a message.
Just like tossing Zary over the boards as the 6th attacker.
Ideally I don’t want Hunt in the lineup either, but some tools send more effective messages.

Zary's also been a pro longer than Coronato. Good learning situation for Matthew.

Clearly the message is lets continue losing.
And I am ok with that.

Agreed. I don't really get the desire to shield COronato from benching or the AHL for that matter. It's not about how well he plays this year really.

Exactly what I want.
Feels weird to want that after clamouring for wins forever, but I can live with 1 goal losses where our assets produce.
