Watching this game through a shall we say less-than-official stream, it was rare that I could tell any Flames player from all the other Flames players. Markstrom and Zadorov were the only two I could identify on sight - the rest of them all look like the same guy, which wouldn't be a problem if that guy had some offensive flair.

Hey now. Treliving called Markstrom when he was wasted at a wedding and Marky said Huberdeau is a good guy.

I’m actually surprised we were as good as we were.

And we were dog water.

Did Treliving think to put a "we done ####ed up, please come back" clause in Sutter's contract?

Knowing his other contracts, probably not.

My worst fear is the team turns it on in the second half to make a respectable season out of this.

We need injuries and we need a bunch of them. Erase any chance that Huby, Kadri or Lindy will turn it on and win us some games. We need Ls and a top 3 pick.

Then we need a repeat next season.

Then and only then can we hope that this unmovable, untradeable core will be able to have a miracle season or two with our new young top 3/5 picks and we can make a run.

Otherwise, we’re doomed.

Is Huberdeau still being cerebral?
I can't tell of I'm allowed to critique him yet or if he's just doing 5D elite cerebral voodoo I don't understand.

This probably boosts Edmonton to start playing better too; the double whammy of suck.

This team should be able to move the following players this year

Hanifin
Lindholm
Tanev
Markstrom (may need to eat some salary).

That would leave 36 million in cap space next year for the Flames to take on bad contracts.

One has to think a combo of all those moves should garner a number of 1st round picks and prospects. Couple that with back to back years of top 5 picks and the prospect pool should be replenished at least.

Now that we’ve gotten rid of the one person who had a clue of what it took to win

Yup. I mentioned it in the game thread but I think Huberdeau is a bigger disaster than Gary Leeman was.

Huberdough is my least favorite Flame ever. What a joke that guy is. I hope his agent is going to send out a tweet (that he totally didn't know was happening haha) about him not having "fun" because if he's enjoying himself this season it's even more pathetic.

2-6-1

Every loss matters.

Please begin the selling ASAP. Don’t late players diminish their trade values.

…and for the love of god, don’t make any desperate “save the season” trades

Look at the Flames November schedule and pick how many games you think they’ll win playing like this. Things are going to get very sour around the dome, might make the Darryl era look like Disneyland for these guys.

Minnesota has 15 million in dead cap and they’re still functional. Huberdeau can be a fixture in the pressbox, the Flames can play with a 10 mil cap handicap. Just keep this guy off the ice.

No problem stacking up the losses, but I'm very concerned they're going to lock down Lindholm and Hanifin, when every sign points to tearing it all down. Please please please management, see the team for what it is.
