The importance of coaching is CRIMINALLY underrated by most fans. Coaches in the pros are like film directors- a good director can make a fine film out of the same script that another director would make a dud. A coach is like a field general in battle, and it doesn't matter if you have depth, or goaltending- the coach provides the game plan.

I'm seeing a team that's still learning a new defensive scheme, and building back their creativity after last year's fiasco. I wasn't a big fan of the Huska hire, but knock on wood, I see a WINNING system taking shape, one that tilts the ice in our favor, moving the puck with speed. I'm actually seeing a light at the end of the tunnel with this coaching staff, and the systems they are teaching. We're going to get there I think, and I'm happy to eat crow.

The depth. Looks incredible. 4 lines that can score. They all have players that can generate their own offense. Coronato, Duehr and Ruzicka all look legit. Having three extra forwards, who are all capable of 40 points, absolutely transforms this team.

When Kadri and Backlund get going, the flames will be pushing these leads instead of falling back into them.

The water bottles always seem filled so the bench staff seem to have their game together.

Kadri will get better but Backlund is a true flames captain who just for what ever reason sucks in October. This is a career long thing for him.

We are 2-1-1 and Backlund has been invisible. Could easily be 3 - 1 if we could get a OT win for once. When Backlunds line get rolling that 4th line and 3rd line will be fun to watch.

Depth is great, but team just needs a little star power that can take over a game, Lindholm is good but for how long? trade him now to a team that needs a 2nd line responsible center to put them over the top and maybe we'll get back a prospect that'll turn into something, sorry folks, this team is going no where with Lindholm as it's #1 center.

Now 4 for 4 scoring first in every game ---- leading or tied heading into the 3rd every game

All the games, while really choppy and frustrating at times, have been entertaining !

I'll just drop this here.

Doing well while everyone gets used to new coaches/players/lines.

Still early but Wolf looking like he's even better this season, absolutely stole 2 wins already. 5th consecutive top goalie award?

If it happens, it will only be because teams get up for the Oilers, and want to see how they compare to greatness, as well as try to avoid getting embarrassed. McDavid is going to have to play teams that are trying REALLY hard, every night. It's a big disadvantage.

I would think teams would get up for one of the best teams in the league in NJ as well, Jack Hughes is no shrinking violet with 99pts in 78 games last year.

Teams know in order to beat them they need to stop Hughes

The Flames performance tonight has unified and galvanized the fanbase like never before!

Seriously though, Zadorov. His attitude is what the Flames need. More please.

-The PK
-Markstrom is playing well for the most part
-The younger players have mostly given good effort

That’s about all I can think of

Greer-Hunt-Duehr bust their asses game in and game out. Sure some more goals from them would be nice. But if the rest of the forward group worked as hard as those three we wouldn't have a problem.

Gilbert was a nice find and continues to be a solid third pairing guy.

If that’s truly the case, then that’s definitely part of the problem. Losing like this, being shutout at home, scoring at a pathetic level pretty much every game, no structure, no spark and players are smiling???

Everyone should be pissed off and play that way, if not this is going to be a helluva long season folks.
