I see the Jets had just over 11,000 people at their game against the Kings. I expect this could be a trend with some mediocre teams across the league Flames included. With inflation eating up pay cheques and these teams being a bit blan...people are chosing to eat three decent meals a day and have a home over going to a couple NHL games a month.

Wait, are you telling me that endlessly raising ticket and concession prices has consequences?!?

If everything else in the economy was all going up at the same rate it would be less impact full. But when basic needs have spiked like they have, something takes a hit.

I wss very vocal about how Winnipeg has lots of hockey fans, but it's not a great NHL market. The city has not grown much and it's not filled with a lot of high income earners. So after 10 years the shine has worn off...and same old Jets.

This was becoming an issue before the pandemic. Over the last 20 years the NHL has quickly priced out the fans it really needs to stay relevant - young families. With most arenas removing cheap seats in favor of luxury seating/suites and the continual price hikes on tickets, teams are setting themselves up for a situation where attendance will plunge when the fairweather fans and business people who have big wallets stop watching a mediocre team.
