Call it the 2nd line, and call the $11M 2nd line the 3rd line, if it makes you feel better (since the lines are interchangeable anyway).
Having a $2.35M 4th line doesn't hurt either

Haven't watched the full Barnburner video yet, but can anyone confirm if Conroy was also wearing a white glove during the interview?

It's definitely a possibility. That said, I don't see how you would improve PP2 without weakening PP1.
The main priority is to make PP1 be as effective as possible. If they're effective you can use them for 1.5 of the 2 PP mins. I mean which team has offensive juggernauts as their 5th - 9th forwards?

I'm just glad Coro is on the first unit.
I've missed that lethal right handed blast on our pp1

I think the top unit is going to get the majority of time and if they don't create the momentum that 2nd unit comes out and tried to get the momentum going so when you are back to 5 on 5 that powerplay hasn't deflated the team.
Seems like it was a 50 seconds of zone time if you could do it and if it got knocked out it was time to change right away.
I think the ice time increase for Huberdeau will come from longer PP shifts maybe more 5v5 time.

I'll give Rasmus 5 games to show he belongs on PP1. Which is way more games than he deserves from last year. Weegar, Zadarov or a forward would be better options.

I would be curious the differences of PP1 vs PP2 last season. I guess it wouldn't be a good comparison since PP1 is always getting most of the special teams time.

Just found that interesting re: the tension with Tre and Daryl. A lot of talk about Sutter maybe playing games with the line up to force roster moves from the GM, and just one data point, but also sounds like Tre might not have been helping much in that department if he was trying to get into Daryl's kitchen a bunch. Not sure you go out and hire a super tenured coach (especially Daryl) and expect things are going to go well if you want daily input into the line up. BTW - maybe reading too much into it, but the way Conny said it, seemed like it was more of a consistent stylistic thing for Tre, vs. he started doing it with Daryl at the end because he wasn't like player usage type of thing.
|
He also said without a C there was no one who felt like could walk into Sutter's office etc. And we know Tre had a good relationship with a lot of the players (Backs even said this recently) so I suspect the tension was players going to Brad to talk about Sutter and Sutter feeling like Brad was stepping in his kitchen when he's rather the Players step up and stand up to him. Rinse repeat.

That whole dynamic with Sutter not wanting a captain, Treliving going into the room, the players having no voice just seems toxic at every level.
Just glad we can go back to a normal set up and not a tense environment. You could feel the tension watching that team last year.

Well simply putting Yegor on PP2 would go a long way without weakening PP1.

He did lead all Flames D with 14 goals last season, but he's definitely not the best puck distributor on the blue line.

Putting a RHS somewhere on PP2 will make it less awful. Having all LHS makes it very easy to defend.
