AHL preseason starts on Oct 3rd, is it safe to assume their camp starts before the weekend?

I seem to recall lots of cuts after the split squad game every year, wouldn't be surprised to see all the AHL guys that aren't going to make the Flames cut and sent to AHL camp by Tuesday/Wednesday

When it comes to Sutters, it's calculated as an average.
(total # of games played by a Sutter) / (total # of Sutters) = average games per Sutter

Definitely someone on the Flames org's end making a very conscious decision to have every video thumbnail the person in question smiling.
I feel like joy is an actual priority around the room this year given how much we're hearing 'having fun at the rink again.'

Teams can start putting waiver eligible players on waivers for assignment to the AHL 12 days before the regular season starts which is this Friday (Sept 28). AHL camps usually open a couple days after this date, usually the following Sunday or Monday.

I had noticed that, as well. Backlund, in particular.

Did they name a replacement for Gilbert or will they just play one less Dman for the Calgary game?

Pelletier - Jones - Duehr will be my line to watch at home.
Ruzicka - Dube - Sharangovich/Coronato will be interesting in the away game.

That defense they are sending to Seattle...oof.
Forwards going to have to come back and help because not sure that defense is going to be able to move the puck. Big test for Solovyov though.

A goaltender that played in 30+ games (or dressed in 50+ games) during the previous season
A first-round pick from the most recent NHL Draft
Any player that has played 100+ career games
Brett Sutter, signed to an AHL contract with the Wranglers and likely attending main camp on a PTO, falls into the fourth category (and counts as a veteran).
If we pretend every 26 AHL games counts as an NHL game he's got enough when combined lol.
Pike might be confused because the AHL and ECHL classify veteran status based on total professional games, not just in that one league.

I love watching the young underdog team in split squads.
It's even more fun when they can surprise and put up a good fight.

He's not in the lineup for either game and they have enough D for both.
