Not a fan of this choice. I don’t think Rasmus is a house hold name for starters. Outside of CGY people from other cities probably don’t even know who he is.
I also don’t think he helps to attract other players to want to play here. Just my opinion but this would not be my first choice.

I disagree. I think most hockey fans outside of Calgary nowadays know the importance of Andersson and Weegar on the backend.

I think he is the best choice. Liking Conrys decisions so far albeit just a few of them so far.

No one joins a team because of who the captain is. They join teams who either pay them the most or have a chance to win it all in their estimation....99% of the time one of the best players on a good team is the captain to be sure.
I dont care who becomes captain because the truth is that the players know who their leader is regardless of ant extra letter on their chest.
I also dont think its a surprise its Andersson getting the nod....i think it was gonna be one of him, Weegar or Huberdeau from day 1.

One of the league's top chirpers.
I like too that it'll be a defenseman, who typically are on the ice more than forwards.

Agree to disagree on this one. There is a reason Iggy was involved in trying to attract free agents.
My choices were the same as you, Weegar and Huberdeau.
Part of being the captain is also jersey sales. How many of us that are on this site will be racing to get a Rasmus jersey? For me I’ll be ok without one, even though I do appreciate the player.

I don't think they are worried about jersey sales by naming a captain.
Winnipeg just named Adam Lowry captain how many jerseys do you think he's moved? Maybe 10?

He's no 'Fatty Morris.'

Well, it is still a 'Francis Rumour.'
But frankly, I dont really care about Lindholm's feelings about it.
I like the prospect of having a younger Captain with a bit more emotion who plans on sticking around for a while.

Really happy about this.
Raz has a great relationship with Huska and knows the value of Huska as a coach. Ryan was Razs biggest cheerleader back in the Fatmus days.
Got serious about nutrition. Got serious about practice , extra reps , being the first on and last off the ice. Studies the game and wears it on him well.
His exit interviews he's always the most vocal honest and transparent guy. His GAF meter is pegged and his effort impresses me.
Perfect guy to wear the C.....and if not him Weegs gets the nod.
Damn this is exciting

Didn't he start dating a personal trainer or nutritionist or something? I think they're married now but I thought I read something where he credited her for his fitness change.

Was talking about this yesterday. Said I would have picked Backlund. But because of UFA circumstances my next choice would have been Anderson. I think he’ll make a good captain.

Who on our roster attracts players to come play here? We can’t convince players who are here to stay here.
Ras is a good pick for where this team is. He’s proud to be a Flame while the reputation of the team seems to be in the dumpster (based on players leaving, opting to not sign, GM walking away, terrible building).
Ras would be a good choice right now.

I'd like to see Mangiapane get an "A" as well. New captain, new leadership group.

Dead. Wrong.

Håkan Loob had some very good things to say about him, either in or just after his draft year. I remember a radio interview where Loob was pumping the tires of both Andersson and Kylington. Apparently his opinion carried some weight with the Flames' front office.
After hearing that interview, I never quite dared to be as negative about those two prospects as some posters on CP. One must respect the Loob!

I disagree, the only thing I see Huberdeau wanting is Backlund's number once he is gone.
