Lindholm is older, I love Lindholm but I'd take Aho all day every day. He should be getting at least a million less than Aho....but Flames tax I guess.

No, you brought up McCain, not me

Btw, Aho is clearly the best player on the Canes. McCain is not.

Doesn't or shouldn't really change anything for Lindholm. His comparable contracts will continue to be a lower tier of first line Cs like Horvat and Larkin.

Its not even just that, I hate harping on it, but the structure of our Cap, the age of our contracted players, all of these things play a part.

And Tyler Tofolli had 12 more goals and 9 more points and was a plus 16 to Lindholm's plus 6.
Not saying that Lindholm wasn't the best player on a mediocre team last season, and the 3rd best player on a good team the year before but Aho has been the best player on a good team for 5 straight years
If Lindholm signs for 8.75 M anywhere for any length that would be an indication of how much of a discount Aho left on the table to stay with his organization. Aho has to be worth at least 2M/yr more than Lindholm. If he gave the Canes a million a year discount then full value for Lindholm would be 8.75.
The Flames already have what was supposed to be their best player locked in at 10.5 for the next 8 years.
In any given 5 year span Huberdeau was never as good as Aho was over the last 5 years. Florida clearly understood that.

The number one reason for big contracts in the NHL is points. In the last 5 years, Aho was 0.98 PPG. In the last 5 years in FLA, Huberdeau was 1.13 PPG. That is a pretty significant difference (415 pts vs 354). Aho's most productive season never came close to Huberdeau's 2nd most productive season.

If petey was taking this deal it's already resigned
Especially with so many guys taking prove it 1 year deals, I think either agents and/or the pa are fairly confident the cap is gonna rise up quickly
offer 11x8 and hope he takes it

Nah, Slavin is the best player on the Canes, though he was a tad worse this past season.

Celebrated Square Root Day

He literally doesn't understand anything in terms of stats. He is a Jets fan that comes on and makes statements suggesting the Flames are wrong and awful in any and all situations before really digging into anything at all.
I just find it funny. I don't think anyone on here takes his stuff seriously, so it's all harmless.

The only thing better than ricardo's posts are the replies from posters immediately calling him out on being utterly & hilariously wrong. We wouldn't have the entertainment value without both present!
