I literally blurted out “FINALLY” when I saw the Tweet from the Flames account. And I agree with Puppet Guy that they need to track down the Kipper Kid and bring him to the Dome for the ceremony
But he was a very good hockey player. Did I miss something?

There's reasons he's not in the Hall of Fame/his number isn't retired. He badmouthed the Flames on his way out after his comeback attempt in 2009, I think it left some bad sentiment. Then all of his political ramblings over the past several years. Not something the Flames want associated with their brand I suspect. He burnt a lot of bridges in the hockey world. His number will never be worn again, but there will never be a banner.

This is so overdue! Kipper is easily one of my favourite players ever. Nice the Flames were able to find him in the wilds of Finland and get him back to Calgary to do this! I am pumped!

I'm also convinced that even if they wanted to, he'd ask for money to attend.
