This will work out great, Treliving has an awesome track record with signing free agents….

This is one of the reasons why Tre chose to go to Toronto, it’s just waaaay easier to sign free agents and acquire players.

There is no way Bertuzzi or Domi would sign one year sweet heart deals like that with the Flames.

Tre is unchained and signing everyone.

Being a GM of the Flames, Senators or Jets are probably the hardest managerial jobs in the league.

Nylander is almost certainly gone. The Leafs are $8M over the cap and still need to sign Samsonov. That Brodie buyout could be a reality because moving Nylander alone is not enough. I suspect they need to do it for picks as well.

The Maple Leafs are now $2.4 million over the cap, inclusive of projected LTIR, with no starting goaltender under contract. Blockbuster incoming at some point this summer, needing someone to bail them out.

Makes little sense. As Calgary needs to send back comparable cap.

Meh . We say this every summer about some teams and every year they weasel their way through it.

I'm honestly not even convinced that Domi is an upgrade over Kerfoot. Brad really going out on a limb here.

It almost looks like Treliving is trying to bring in players that are his to make it like this is my team.

He's toughened them up drastically. He obviously thinks that is their missing piece.

The cap is no big deal. Leafs could have a deal already in place with Samsonov and just not register it until they have the space. They gave up picks to get rid of both Marleau and Mrazek so don't see them having an issue doing it for Murray.

Looks like they're all in but fundamentally misunderstanding what they're actually missing.

Man I hope there’s a way to figure out landing Nylander; I don’t care what anyone says but a Huberdeau - Lindholm - Nylander line would be insanely fun to watch. Not sure what the pieces would be and I think a third team would need to be involved considering both teams cap constraints but something involving Hanifin + Vladar for Nylander and a team eating Murray’s contract is what I’m thinking the basis would be, obviously sweeteners would be going to the team that helps broker the deal.

Savard running a PP of

Huberdeau - Lindholm - Coronato
Weegar - Nylander

Friggen drool…

With only 12 forwards under contract (if you do not count Robertson). If you count Robertson they are about 3.2 million over the cap and need to either go with Murray as the starting goalie or trade him and a 1st to Arizona and use that money and maybe whatever they can net from a Nylander trade for a starting goalie. They will need a goalie as their backend is

Reilly - Brodie
Klingberg - McCabe
Timmins - Liljegren

Talk about going out on a limb! Kerfoot sucks on the offensive end. He got PP2 time all last season and still got barely more points than David Kampf. Kerfoot at 3.5 is just brutal. Much rather have Domi at 3. Bottom 6 needs more grit and he will provide it.

Domi had 22 total hits in 80 games and his career high is 53 so he’s not going to provide too much physical grit though I do agree he’s a solid faceoff man and when he scores it’s because he’s going to the tough areas and is known to take chippy PIMS. Still though it’s not like he’s his dad in terms of grit, Reaves was brought in to try to help these guys play taller and I don’t know if he moves that needle anymore, especially in todays game.

Hit stat is very subjective. Kerfoot apparently threw 54 hits last year. But as a Leaf fan I'm looking more at chippy after the whistle stuff. Bruins, Lightning, Panthers in the playoffs are constantly pulling that crap. League never cracks down on it. Leafs have tried to play the clean game. But the League constantly wants to call games even. Each team gets the same amount of PPs. Leafs are always near the bottom of the league in PPOs every single year. Why? Because they don't commit a lot of penalties so the refs don't want to give the opposing team too many PPs. I'm liking Tree's approach. Bring in a bunch of #### disturbers. Get more PKOs but Leafs will also get more PPOs because of how Reffing works in this league. Plus it's a much more entertaining brand of hockey. I didn't even watch the last 3 months of Leafs hockey last year because the matchup was set and the games were just so boring. Nothing interesting ever happened. I'm all for bringing some juice back to this team.
