One thing that is impressive about Solovoyv was that he played in the KHL at 19. I followed him a little that season. He struck me to be a very clam player. Something you like to see in D men.

Parker Bell should be in the top 20, I would probably have him around 10-15, he had a very good season - I think he is a late bloomer

Curious to see what Rory Kerins becomes

He was second in the OHL to Wyatt Johnston if I recall correctly a couple years back, and Johnston played for Dallas last year

If there's genuinely are going to be roster openings based on camp performance, I wouldn't discount a dark horse candidate.

Klapka or Solovoyov.

He played in the ECHL last year, so he has some work to do to make the NHL.

I think both have a decent chance. Klapka had a really good camp last year and after an adjustment period in the AHL, really came into his own down the stretch and in the playoffs. It also helps that he play on the 4th line and wouldn't be out of place.

The kid has some talent, but the question was whether that talent would translate to the pros let alone the NHL. Still a work in progress and has a long way to go.

It's why it is best to wait and see what these kids do in the pros before getting overly excited about them as their flaws get amplified against better competition. Kerins and Parsons are a couple of players that had glaring weaknesses in their skill set that wasn't that evident in junior because of the competition they played against. Once they go up to the next level it became evident they had aspects of their game that weren't going to translate and they would have to work on them to adapt. Parsons couldn't get past them. We'll see how Kerins does in the upcoming year and how his development goes. I'm hoping he's a full-time AHLer and he can put up no worse than .5 PPG and score 20ish goals. I think he has to get to that level to show he has potential to make the NHL.
