If the 13 pick is available for Noah the deal would be already done imo.

Not if it depends on Hanifin signing a long term contract. That will take a bit of back and forth with the Flames as middlemen. I don't think he gets the 13th as a rental though.

It's annoying when people say things like this, because we have no idea what is going on. A potential deal for Hanifin will most likely include several other pieces, so even if Buffalo is already negotiating off of the #13 pick, there could be other details and pieces in the negotiation that are complicating the finalisation of a deal.
Again, we don't know anything.

Holy #### The Wizard left one giant ass mess behind didn't he. Has any GM walked into such a disaster like the one Treliving left Conroy?

Well it would be fine under regular ownership. He’d just sell off all assets and start a rebuild from the ground up.

The fact that they all line up is actually a pivot opportunity. Nobody had sight lines on the cap going up the year they are set to become UFAs which has triggered a bunch of this.
Sutter extended by the owner that caused a mutiny.
But not sure I'd call it a mess. Lindholm and Hanifin were acquired 5 years ago and resigned to amazing contracts after a great trade.
Toffoli acquired in a solid trade, and appreciated.
Tanev acquired in UFA and has been great, adding a free asset the team can trade now.

Yeah it's not so much a mess as a very condensed turn over.
Feels like this was always the wall the build was heading towards anyways in retrospect.

Ya, we're talking about 5 high value pieces. There are additional probably 5 more high value pieces on the flames, a couple that are meh and 3 high priced reclamation season vets.
High value could trade today for good assets not including rookies: Vladar, Andersson, Hanifin, Tanev, kylington, Zadorov, Weegar, Lindholm, Toffoli, Backlund, Dube
Meh happy to have them but going nowhere: Mang, Coleman
Albatross bounce back required guys: markstrom, huberdeau, Kadri
Add to that a top goalie prospect, a handful of NHL ready forwards and hopefully a deluge of picks and prospects via trade. I don't think they're in a bad situation at all.

The situation is a mess, and I'm glad a new GM is the one guiding us and not the bum that got us to this point.

?
Whether it was Treliving or not the team is at a point where they can move several high value assets for high value returns. This is a good thing, no? Especially for this who have been clamouring for a rebuild/retool which seems to be the majority of people here for quite sometime.
People thinking Treliving has left a tire fire behind probably aren’t paying very close attention beyond the two feet in front of themselves.
Conry should be embracing this. He gets to, potentially, completely change the direction of the club days in advance of one of the supposed great drafts in recent memory.

As a Jets fan I am so jealous, at least you got rid of the GM that got you in this mess, and aren't allowing the same one who built it to handle the now rebuild or retool or whatever the hell it is we are doing

Again, I don’t think this is a mess. It’s an opportunity to move high value assets and change course. This is a good thing.

Lindholm = 1st, 2nd, 2nd
Hanifin = 1st, 2nd
Vladar = 2nd
Toffoli = 1st
Backlund = 2nd, 3rd
I don’t think those valuations are too crazy. You can mix in prospects and young, NHL players. This is a great opportunity to add 6-10 high value pieces to really kickstart a rebuild

To be fair, Brad wasn't fired. He just left before it all started to crumble down

There are probably some Bergeron, Getzlaf and Perry type players in this years draft around where Flames are picking. Please get more picks!

Backlund will 100% be able to pull in a 1st at some point between now and the next TDL. All situations center at under 3 mil when retained which he will be. Can be reliable against anyone in the league

I'm the opposite. I'm a little nervous that a rookie GM is in charge at a seemingly critical point. No offense toward Conroy, in particular, I just think it will be quite the tall order to make out well here with his first at-bats.

Conroy has been an AGM since what, 2011?
We’re not dealing with Kyle Dubas or John Chayka here.
