In the days when a random anonymous Reddit post can swing NFL draft odds it’s no surprise this kind of silliness gets “reported” and propagated

Apparently Pedro Pascal and Jon Hamm are interested in being part of the new ownership. They loved filming in Alberta. Lol also real interest from Mike Reno of Loverboy and the boys of Nickelback. None of them want to be overshadowed by Dead Pool.

Deep cut. I would be on board with our new ownership group wearing red leather pants, for sure.

No. He's just an idiot. And an expat paying no taxes to Canada while expecting Canadians to pony up cash for an arena.

He can take a hike - even farther than he already has.

I will say, if he ever had interest in selling it's getting close to a good point to do so. If the Sens end up getting sold for over $1 billion, the Flames are probably worth $1.3-1.5 if the new arena deal is locked down.

The companies he owns (or partially own) pay a ton of taxes. The Flames pay lots of taxes and employs thousands of people. The fact he may pay little to now personal taxes in Canada isn't particularly relevant.

Has Edwards every spoken publicly about the Flames…. I just realized I have zero idea what the guy even looks like? I doubt I’ve ever even seen a photo of the guy.

That is absolute bull####. He makes an absolute fortune from his companies and the fact that he then essentially skips town so that he doesn't have to pay personal tax while at the same time asking the tax payer to build him a new building that increases his personal wealth is absolute ####. The fact that he doesn't pay personal taxes while being more than willing to use taxpayer money for his own self interest shows a bit about the character of the man and how he views the citizenry of the province.

It's kind of cringey that Francis would even feel the need to ask him about a clearly bogus report. If the owners ever do want to sell, the news won't be broken by someone whose credentials are "devoted Canucks fan".

You think? Based on CNRL alone, the company netted some $23B in financial profits (NOT taxable income - we don't know that), paying around $4B in the past two years.

That's around 20% in tax. I pay more than that and so likely do you, percentage-wise. Absolute or marginal rates.

I'm pretty sure it was more Francis showing off that he evidently has a direct line to the owner. There was nothing to corroborate the initial report, and I'm sure it would have been a nothing-burger if it hadn't been reposted here and presumably elsewhere.
