By my employer or co-worker, sure.
Or by a customer, when I was in retail.
I am none of these things to Brad Treliving - just an observer. It's like if you're buddy retires or leaves from his oil and gas job you're not gonna be like "Hey, thanks for everything you did there"

Such is sports- it isn't just an emotionless, transactional relationship between the fans and the personalities representing the team. Brad leaving is more akin to the lead singer of one's favourite band quitting than someone's buddy quitting their oil and gas job.

I would feel more that way about the players than the management, personally. Brad leaving is more like your favorite band's manager quitting (you probably wouldn't really care?) -- Gaudreau leaving is like the lead singer quitting.

Depends on the manager. Jay Feaster getting fired fell more in to that category, but Tree was here for a long time and represented the city and team well, so for many people he was elevated to being far more than a faceless bureaucrat responsible for the goings-on of the team. Players aren't volunteers either, yet there we are with our cheesy highlight videos for them every time they return to the dome with another team for the first time.

So you came here to tell us how much you don't care? Good for you. This is clearly an appreciation thread. It's really not that hard to read the title.

Isn't that kind of missing the point of a message board though -- you're here to discuss with other people and get other people's opinions on things.
If you just want to send him some unsolicited appreciation write him a letter or something. He's not logging on here to read it.

For me his best moment came last summer after the Gaudreau and Tkachuk body blows with how he defended the city and the organization. It's too bad the players he brought in haven't really worked out yet but when the franchise was reeling he was the stabilizing force in the middle of it all.
I noted in another thread that his last piece of business as GM was signing Matt Coronato (and I suppose recalling Dustin Wolf); I hope they both end up becoming stars in Calgary for a long time.

We can debate all day long the merits of that, but overall he represented the city like a true ambassador and if the stars align 20 years from now and he's refined his craft, I'd love to see him back.
I've cheered for players who have left on other teams, but this will be the first time I wish a departing GM the best of luck on another team. Dude was dealt a #### sandwich of some kind seemingly every season and he handled it like a pure pro.
Watch him go to an organization that actually has their office in order and is a desirable destination and I think you'll see him flourish.
Best of luck to him.

20 years? He might be dead by then. We all might be dead by then.

Yeah. Even Sutter’s was about 15 years here
And he looked like he still might have had it for a very short spell

Great worker who cared deeply about the team and Calgary and probably even a better person but unfortunately his legacy will be failed season after failed season and his inability to keep his two best star players that put fans butts in the seats and had those same fans rise out of the seats. he's leaving this team with ageing players with severe bloated contracts.
I can't find the words to say any thanks.
