I don't think they can sign new contracts until after the draft...July 1st

Either way I think his value in remaining exceeds his value in trade.
You assume Backlund wants to stay?

I expect he’ll be traded and not extended.

Backlund is both the most likely to stay and the easiest to re-sign to a shorter and more inexpensive deal. He already re-upped once, and I’d bet he doesn’t a long term deal at his age. The only issue I see with him is if he wants to go to Sweden like Loob.

Backlund at the right price. And that number does not start with a 5 at age 35. I don't think any player, except an outright superstar, earns the ability to call his shot with a team. If management thinks he can be useful for 2 or 3 more seasons that's fine but the risks of him falling off a cliff at his age are not low. For that reason you can't pay him too much.

Unless Lindholm wants $ 8 million plus I'd like to keep him if he wants to stay.

I would think Backlund's next contract is something like 3 X $3 maybe 3 X $4
