Google has just experienced a recent regional surge in the Edmonton area on Patrik Puistola.

LMAO...they passed on Tkachuk, Keller, Nylander, Sergachev etc. and now they have Puistola.

Not that drafting him at the time was that out to lunch, but when the Finnish GM passes on him to draft a Canadian...the red flags were already there. Then you plunk him in one of the worst places in the NHL for developing young talent, and that's how you end up with a middling prospect from a top 3 pick.

The opposite of the red paperclip trade. Nobody does it better than Edmonton.

Yes Puljujarvi was still on Capfriendly. If teams retain, it costs more. But sound like the Oilers targeting a guy with term.

So running 10 forwards then, and then 11 for the rest of the year when Kane is back?

I hope the Oilers include the clip of Puljujarvi eating pizza along with various shots of his tongue up his nose in the tribute video when he returns to Edmonton

Yes, I think CAR is the best place for Puljujarvi - sit him with Aho, and see if he can regain some confidence.

Would absolutely LOVE to see them get Laine and put the band back together - just for the sheer entertainment value!

We'll see what Edmonton can do with this cap space. If they can land Chychrun or Ekholm it will be a good deal. If they lose out on one of the big D available this will be an underwhelming return.

I doubt he's any more successful than Jarvis there. And Jarvis has more upside. I bet they try him with Staal and bump fast down. Or put him with Stasny on the 4th.

Puljujarvi is not going to break out. The kid is mediocre. Ruined. I don't know anything about Puistola, but I'm sure this will work out horribly for the Oilers, as is custom.

I would guess the Oilers will sign this kid, otherwise they would take future considerations. Looks like someone who could at least help offensively in Bakersfield?

Why would he sign with the Oilers though?

People would have said the same things about Nichuskin, or even Bennett.

Honestly I think Puljujarvi has better underlying impacts that either of those two did at the same points of their development.

In the right situation he could blossom for sure, and if he plays with Aho I think we might see that.

Don't you know every player in the NHL is dying to play on the same team as McAvi? Or atleast that's what Oilers fans and media want you to think.

Well Puistolla can join Robby Schremp, Robert Nillsson, Linus Omark on the KLowe Castoff podcast one day and lament how the Oilers not knowing how to teach them defence robbed them of 600 goal and 1300 point NHL careers.

Seems like they can their left over Pool Party jerseys and modify them for their discount rack.

That can't be right, there must be more tweets. Surely the Edmonton fans that were calling for getting rid of him while simultaneously extolling how his value is whatever player they were fantasy trading for one for one or with even more coming back couldn't be wrong, right? Right...?
