Toffoli has played like a $7 million dollar player for the Flames this season.

|
What? A 5g scoring plug worth 800k is worth 6 assets and Toffoli who can be retained for 50 percent or 75 percent through a 3rd party broker is worthless??
Even a 2m cap hit retained would be worth the haul if those are the premiums teams are paying.

Most years, UFA’s of this quality maybe fetch what, a second round pick at most? Good player and good cap bit but, this is outrageous.
This is such a shocking overpay that it makes me wonder if something else is going on

Cal Foote isn't a bad player either and still young for a defenseman. Lol this is pretty nuts.

Was Poile just joking around when he kept asking for more and Tampa just said 'sure'?
I don't understand how that negotiation went. Love to hear that phone call.

Tampa has a way of identifying talent for a perfect fit in their lineup, Preds probably didn't want to give him up so it took a lot, picks are nice but Foote is barely an NHL player at this point.

This is the most NHL video game franchise mode trade Ive ever seen...
"Hmm they turned down Foote + 1st + 2nd"
"Add a 3rd.....still nope"
"Add a 4th....nope"
"Add that 5th too ... Boom finally accepted"
Except usually you were trying to steal a team's star...not Tanner Jeannot.

In about five years the Bolts are going to be the ultimate bottom feeder.

I'm shocked I don't see David Putney as part of that trade, just because, Poile GD feels like it!!

And 3-4 years later they'll be back on top, that's the way good franchises replenish star players unlike ours

Worthless at 4.25? Come on now, you must have a better argument than that.

I dont see it really. I guess it depends how point ages, but he seems like he'll be good for a while. Hedman will probably age well too. Kuch and Stamkos might be gone by then, but it's also an attractive market to sign in. Hagel seems in a similar mold to point.
