Doesn't the league pick the players and not the teams? Why would the league pick a worse player to helps a team pump his trade value?

Kadri definitely brings name recognition which is a good thing in terms of the all-star game. Great pick to represent the team.

Lindholm is probably our best player though so I'll be voting for him. I think he deserves it.

I think Andersson deserves it the most. And Lindholm. Even Toffoli deserves it more than Kadri, IMO.

A Kadri-McDavid-Crysaddle line would be great those two wouldn't touch the puck with Kadri on their line.

Teams provide three players to the league in the order they'd like to be considered.

Good for Kadri, although I'm surprised Andersson is not the one like many here, or Lindholm.

However I think there is obviously some intent by the NHL to grow the game through the All Star Festivities, and that includes building some feel-good story lines. Kadri with bringing the cup into a Mosque for the first time this past summer, and somebody like Hayes making the ASG after losing his brother, probably gives the NHL reason to add them over somebody more deserving in terms of play this year, if it's a close choice.
