Pretty thrilled that Sutter has managed to take the gas out of his best forward. Ruzicka was pretty invisible tonight. Having him playing like that will go a long way towards securing Bedard.

We did not lose because of Marky, lost due to poor PP execution and lack of ability to finish. Been that way a lot this year.

Hard to beat a team 3-2 when they score three first.

I will bet anything you like that that doesn't happen

Would be a difference maker if Eat Bread could get going, or if the PP came up big once in a while. Feels like just one goal at times would get the Flames going on a big streak.

Good game, both goalies were great, a good effort on the road. Just needed that 3rd goal before the Jets got it. Onto the next one.

No. They played at the same level.

They don't get traffic in front of net either like the Jets did on the winning goal.

The goalie pretty much sees every shot and tips are usually from far out where the chance of getting a piece are higher.

I think the problem isn’t Markstrom tonight in a vacuum if this was a one off but more that there have been too many games like this this season where no goal is technically “soft” but still he let’s in more than you’d like.

XG were 2.73 for and 2.1 against tonight. And the Flames lost 3-2. Markstrom let in one more than you’d like, Hellebuyck let in one fewer and that’s the difference in what was a very close and hard fought game between two teams.

Not really Markstroms fault tonight alone but just happening too frequent this season (combined with the lack of finishing being an issue too and magnifying it)

needed to be in position for one of the last two that went in

if he's in position on either they might not go in

don't like seeing half his body outside of the post, even if the shots are high quality/deflected

needs to at least give himself a chance by cutting off the angles

Kadri line had a couple good chances (Kadri post and Weegar chance from Hubredeau), but I don’t think they generate consistently enough 5 on 5. I think the Lucic experiment has run its course there. Need someone with some speed.

Fun to watch, but never felt like the Flames were going to win without some puck luck. Didn't get it and didn't play well enough to outlast a stubborn Jets team.

Sigh.

Didn't like the call on Toff with 3 min to go, but to be fair, you've gotta be smarter than to give the Refs a chance to call a stupid penalty, too.

As well, I am *so* over Raz (whom I like!) on the back of the PP with too much pitch and catch, too little movement, too little shooting, and from too far out mostly. Puck retrieval isn't too bad, but PP2 often seems a LOT better than PP1 and that ain't saying much.

Oddly, two Jets goals scored on shots from 60' out.....one directly and one on a tip. We don't seem to be able to do that.

Ya power play is a huge disappointment. And what 7 OT losses?

Or you'll simply be criticized for it. The shot was going wide and it was deflected 3 feet from the net. That's how you beat a goalie as on top of his game as Markstrom was tonight.

That's what I saw as well. Weird time for anybody to try to get nitpicky over Markstrom tonight. Both goalies were good.

A perfect example was that drop pass from Mangiapane to Backlund. When you watch that play, Mangiapane drops it, then goes to the side of the net and stands there waiting for the shot, providing zero traffic, making it a very easy save.

If save % is so important, we should just allow more shots on net. Clearly our problem is shot suppression.

If anything blame Hanifin for being so soft towards the hobbit.
