I do a decent amount of online ordering mostly off Amazon. I don’t live in the city so the convenience of endless items at my fingertips delivered right to my door is extremely convenient.
I do try and support local small businesses as much as I can as we need them to do well even if they don’t deliver. If it’s a choice between Walmart or Amazon on the same product, I’ll usually order from Amazon.
Sometimes on something specific it’s nice to punch in a part number and see the image to know you have the right thing.

Do hookers and blow count? Except it’s only one delivery because the hookers bring the blow. I’m conscious of my carbon footprint and it’s more efficient that way.

I just tried InstaCart for the first time.
Got a case of wine delivered from Costco. My savings made the delivery fee a push. Loved the ease and will probably do it again.

They closed the Safeway near my house for renovations at the same time Coop emailed me about their new delivery service. I have never gone back. Coop is more expensive than some places, but that's the kind of shopping I was already doing. For $10, it's not worth my time and gas money to drive over there and do it myself.
I can check in my cupboards if I can't remember if I need something, I can search by sale items (and they show stuff I've bought before first), and I keep all my staples on a shopping list online and they update the price whenever they go on sale. These features alone make up for the delivery fee.
They usually call if something is out of stock to discuss substitutions. If the size I ordered isn't available, they often substitute the larger size for the price of the smaller one. And the one time a bag got missed, they sent a replacement by taxi an hour later.

Amazon but not as often as we used to it was getting bad so we cut ourselves off.
Instacart for everything as i think this saves money/time since you are taking every impulse buy out of the equation we now only buy exactly what we need for the next two weeks.
Food delivery we are getting better but still more than we should. It gives people jobs so not the worst thing!

If anyone is interested in online ordering with Walmart:
- Walmart LOVES online ordering - the site typically serves up name-brand items that have a higher markup and online orders are generally 15% higher than in-person shopping experiences
- Walmart pickers are trained to pick THE BEST produce. Why? It helps ensure repeat business for online ordering. Again, online ordering has a much higher average cart takeway for Walmart
I've done weekly Walmart orders and pick-ups for nearly two years. Had issues maybe 3 or 4 times that were all quickly fixed by Walmart. Any perishables that I haven't been please with (condition wise) I put in for a full product refund and Walmart 100% approves everything within a minute or two.

Go ahead and weep for me, I weep for someone that continues to waste time setting foot into a grocery story every couple of weeks. If I'm getting some *good* food sure I'll pick it out but that doesn't happen at your local Safeway/Superstore/etc.

Do you grocery shop at a bazaar in Marrakesh? We live in a first world country where grocery shopping is 90% picking packaged items out of a cooler or off a shelf.

In my experience those who are selecting the food aren't exactly bleeding for the corporation... they do a good job and pick produce as well as I would. Also for people who are worried about a person touching your food before you buy it, I assure you the stuff you pick off the shelf has already been handled by many before you got there... not all of them human.

Shop elsewhere if your produce comes in a package.

My deliveries are mainly just Amazon. I do order food services occasionally when I like to indulge in some takeout. For those, it depends on my mood. If it's like a 5 min drive, then I tend to just pick it up. If it's over 10 min, and it's cold outside, I usually just get it delivered.
Groceries, I've done it a couple of times. I still prefer just going to the store as there are a ton of grocery stores within a 5 min drive from my house.

Amazon or other online shopping for items I can't get locally.
I go out and pick up pizza or Chinese food. I refuse to use skip or whatever other service for food delivery. The place I get Chinese food from offers a discount if you pick it up yourself and I'm 5 minutes away from our three favourite pizza places.

This as well...
Even when we are partying...with 4 licensed drivers in the house someone is always available to do a beer / food run.

I order from Amazon, just so convenient.
I seldom order skip the dishes as not enough $$$ goes to the restaurant. Rather pick up my food.
I love delivery. But I have little free time.
Never groceries, I like to pick out my own produce and meat.

I have no problem ordering from delivery apps. Yes Skip and Uber take 20-30%, but over the years, the restaurants for the most part have made their items on those apps 20-30% more expensive to cover the cost deliver apps are taking.
Spending an extra $10~ to save myself driving 30 minutes round trip / using gas / going out in the cold occasionally is well worth it in my opinion.

If you're in Fort Mac, Fort Mac Eats doesn't screw over restaurants like Skip, Dash and Uber tend to do.
So if you live there AND order in, use them to ensure the restaurant gets the most bang for your buck.

I use PC Express to pick up my groceries every week. Not delivery, but it is still a time saver. I have been doing it since well before the pandemic. I have never had an issue with the quality of the produce. If they don't have an item and I don't like the substitution that they picked, I just decline it. Super easy. Sure, I don't buy things like steaks via PC Express (I get it - I want to pick those too), but even if I pop into a store for 5 minutes just for steak every 2 months, I'm still way ahead on time on the weekly routine items.
I don't get groceries delivered, but I wouldn't use a service like Instacart because they mark up the cost of everything just a little bit. I'd rather pay PC Express $15 up front to deliver me items at the in-store prices vs. paying a hidden markup on everything.
If I order takeout, I actually like popping out for a quick spin to pick it up. Working from home exclusively maybe makes an outing a bit more appealing. That, and companies like Skip take a massive cut from the restaurants, so it just doesn't feel right to me. On the rare occasion that I feel like having my food brought to me, I will utilize the restaurant's own driver if they have one or just put pants on and pick it up. Never Skip.
I do use Amazon more than I'd like to, and I do feel guilty about the implications for other retailers. I now try to buy more things at bricks and mortar retailers when the price is pretty close. If something is considerably cheaper and/or more available on Amazon, I'll still go that route because time and money is still finite.

I went in store shopping this week and it was pure chaos. Tried to go to New Balance for some running shoes and they didn't even have the colorway in store.
Madness of Christmas shoppers, fighting for parking, spending $20 on parking in the end and not even getting the shoes, all while having to take our baby in and out of the car/stroller each stop.
No more in store for me.
Came home & ordered the shoes online.
I actually do enjoy shopping occasionally at calmer boutique type stores, high end stores or while traveling but I'm done with malls or big box.
The only in store I'm doing now is groceries but I have the luxury of going mid day when it's quiet.
