Going back to the “He had to take a s***” comment. Very disrespectful of the head coach to say then when everyone could tell it was an injury situation. If a player is injured or banged up that is a reason they may not be playing to expectations, and the coach should be defending the player, not making him look foolish. Sutter would NEVER say that Lewis left to take a s*** if he was hurt. There is clearly a respect issue between the two, further to that, when speaking about his return to the line up Huberdeau said “they’ve barely talked” (about where he fits in the lines).

Between the disrespect and lack of communication, there’s certainly some conflict going on between the two. Possibly more involved given Sutter’s comment about how Lindholm is the best player and playing with wingers he likes….

If that truly is the case I will side with the winning coach, not the never been past the first round player.

I mean you can complain about a lot of things but everyone knows Sutter is hard on star players and through the media.

He's called out Iginla before you just have to take it.

I also don't see Huberdeau moping around he's as jolly as ever.

It's going to be a loooong, looooooong season isn't it...

Fresh of 2 wins in a row, Huberdeau played well in his return, and every line scored a goal after being shuffled.

*doom and gloom amongst CP collective*

Gotcha.

Perhaps y'all need a vacation. Is it too early to experience Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)?

Huberdeau is no doubt frustrated. He represents the savior after our 2 American born players bolted and he is having a hard time under the weight of that pressure and the team going on a 7 game slide didn’t help. Sutter is a tough coach and while this might be a soft market for media compared to Toronto, Vancouver or Montreal it is tougher than Florida where it barely makes the sports page (it could make front page of the Sun here).

Sutter hasn’t handled some things the best but he knows what he is doing. Does Sutter get the best out of everyone? No but I am not convinced he and Huberdeau won’t mix.

It's funny. The players didn't like the pooping comment by Sutter. I don't know why, he was purely deflecting prodding questions. Perhaps it was how he deflected? I dunno. Didn't think it was an issue beyond some dry AF humor. But then again I'm some chump who still laughs at fart jokes and not a hockey player.

It will be interesting to see if Sutter continues to have another member of the coaching staff handle the press conferences going forward.

I'd rather he start showing subtle signs of being a top 5 point producer and best LW in the NHL. He deserves to be moved down the roster right now and I am glad Sutter has the balls to do it.

I mean, he hasn't been terrible, but he doesn't looked like the surefire all-star that he was billed as in Florida. He looks like a $5.9 million player like he is getting paid for this year, but if he doesn't start improving, the next 8 years are going to be brutal at $10.5 million per.

He's done it many times before. It's nothing new.

In the OP you directly commented on how you see signs of frustration based on his choice of words. I've bolded the section FYP.

For the first time this season, I saw a little frustration with the media. Maybe disguised with humour, but he used a very specific word — "interesting" — in an answer to a colleague.

He pulled it out of the morning skate scrum when it was used to describe his season so far (not his word) and it didn't really fit the question he was asked post-game. So it was intentional even if the reason wasn't obvious.

With all the Sutter motivation tactics and words in the media regarding Huberdeau's start, and slotting him with Backlund (which may end up actually being a genius move) I think getting on the road for six is a good thing for Huberdeau right now. The pressures here can be intense.
We don't want to chase any posters away from this site. You are a member of the media and you post under your own name. You'll be held to a higher standard.

Everyone here is smart. The Calgary market wants journalists with integrity that put in the work, do the numbers, and have direct sources.

Eric Francis is a plague on the city and the franchise. Instead of stirring this gossip crap up here, go and ask the first question at the next news conference, so I don't have to hear Mr. Nepotism Hire ask it when I watch the clip. Build your name that way. Man...even just start a feud with Francis, you'd get more followers than trying to drive a wedge between Sutter and Huberdeau.

Just as a matter on interest going forward...he seems to hate it, he is horrible at it, seems to have no interest in getting better at it, he may or may not have gotten himself in some hot water doing them recently. Just curious is all.

You're trying to create something out of nothing. He periodically has one of the assistants handle the PC, for any number of reasons.

And the one he chose yesterday, had been honoured at the game for something (though I can't remember what it was), so he had that guy go.

Absolutely nothing to see here. But the Flames won, so I guess we can't hack on his line juggling at the moment, right?

You mean almost blowing another big lead? Anyway...I did use the word curious so give it a break. Yes, it's true I don't like the head coach and yes it's true I don't like the starting goalie. Get over it.

Huberdeau TOI- 16:37

Like this has got to be 20+. Sutter's gotta get him more ice. Gotta ride your horse right through the storm.

Is that on the coach somehow?

I don't agree with 20+, but he should be in the 18-19 minute range.

And I strongly suspect that he will be, once he gets going
