Mods can we change the thread title please, so everyone knows its another Kylington discussion thread, rather than details of the interview.
If not can anyone else summarise what was discussed and Tre's answers, I tried to listen back to it but couldn't make it work. Thanks

Quick question re: kylington. Is there anyway to get any cap savings for all this missed time?

Probably a partner, sibling or parent going through a serious illness. What's the point of having money if you can't use it to make the decision to spend time with those closest to you. The less time you have left with someone, the more precious that time with them becomes.
IMO, it isn't rocket science to realize why he's absent or when he'll be back.

Usually teams will admit if it's something like that.

Really? I don't recall this being the case. Especially not if the player has specifically requested confidentiality, and that he be left alone.

If he misses the year, will he still be a UFA at the end of the contract, or will he still require another year of playing??
Question for all you CBA nerds...

I've seen "absent for a family matter" before. And it's not usually that big a mystery most of the time because other people know that a father is sick or something.
But I could see it not being mentioned at all if the player requested complete silence. There would be a whole variety of family issues that would keep the guy out and where it would be important to keep it all private.

That wasn't the intention of the thread. The Kylington quote just happened to be on the Francis tweet I embedded. That's why I followed up with another post about other details about the interview. That one quote is literally all that was said, there's nothing else to discuss about it.
It's available on any podcatcher, search Hockey Central 960 and download the Nov 14th episode.

I don't want to know what's going on, just hope for nothing but the best for him and his family.
Edit: think about it, think about how long it would take him to get uo to speed. Who knows if he even has been skating. He's easily two months away from being a month away from being ready. And then tack on another month because Sutter.

Impressive that he can be 4 months behind, not even 2 months in to the season!

Good question. I seem to recall this coming up before with another player who took a year off and it was determined that the contract would slide another year. I can't for the life of me recall the player or exact circumstances though.

I feel like Ovi went home when his gramps was dying and missed some time. Maybe I am misremembering though.
Some people have mentioned the Ethiopian conflict that Eritrea is involved in and I'm thinking there might be something to that.
Simply hoping for the best for Kylly in what is obviously a difficult time for him.
